FINANCE AND TRADE. Financial. exchange revikw. New York, Nov. 25.—The stock market to day was less active than usual-of late, and there was a reaction of material proportions all along the line. Final prices are in most cases the lowest of the day, the market closing weak and active. As usual after reactions, a broader market will be looked for, and it is likely that the announcement of a •change in management of Union Pacific expected tomorrow, will be used to start tire market up again. Blavatsky, the queen of the oc cult, is living in London, and although her menu is limited to hot water, toma toes, nuts, raisins and juicy fruits she gains a pound of flesh every week, her weight now being nearer 300 than SOO. Sho has a parlor carriage in which she lives day and night. All the doorways on the lower floor have been widened for her convenience, and she wheels herself from one room to tho other at will. It requires tho services of four stenogra phers and typewriters to answer the mail that pours in on her from all sections of the civilized globe. Her attire consists of a black silk slip made baby fashion, belted at tho waist with a drawstring. The arm holes measure twenty-two inches, and waist and throat measure ments are proportional. Although she never talks hired girl, dress or money matters, the opinion prevails that she has ample means for genteel retirement. —London Letter. Miss Anderson's Tour. Mr. and Mrs. Navarro are spending the latter portion of their honeymoon in a tour through the Midlands, and have been staying at Nottingham, with which town the bride has grateful associations, having produced "A Winter's Tale" at the Theatre Royal some years ago with great success. They attended high mass at the Roman Catholic cathedral on Sun day, and were more or less in evidence in the streets of the town next day, but so unexpected was their appearance that, though the features of the bride are familiar enough to most people, they happily escaped recognition, and [ the inevitable mobbing of the curious | which would have followod. "How like Mary Anderson," said the proprietor of a shop where they made some purchases to a friend, and the resemblance was certainly strilang.—Pall Mall Gazette. Startling Facts.
