Ban FiiANcrsco.Aprll 11.—The vegetable mar ket was very active this morning. Receipts of green stull'were liberal, and met with good de mand. Asparagus is quite firm, and canners are buying Hp all surplus stock on the street. Beans easier, and receipts more plentiful. I'eas scarce and firm. New and old potatoes dull, and the market iB overstocked with both. The fruit market shows a much better condi tion than has prevailed in it for some time past. Supplies of apples and oranges are of fair qual ity, and enjoy a much better demand. The same cannot be said for dried fruit. French prunes continue to be tho only variety in demand, and business continues to drag along without any signs of activity. The market for dairy produce remains in much the same condition that it was in during the past week. Butter, especially fresh roll, continues in large supply, and prices are weak and downward in tendency. Eggs are very scarce and coming in very sparingly. The British Grain Trade. London, April 11— The Mark Lane Express says: English wheats were stoadyat 325: hold ers are not wi, ling to sell at these low prices. Foreign wheats are a shade firmer, but there is a small prospect of values advaucing, owing to the enormous stocks and influx of arrivals. Tho weekly imports of wheat and Hour since September averaged 437,000 quarters, against 352,000 quarters weekly during the preceding year. The chief increase was from Atlantic ports, amounting to 221,000 quarters this year, against 19,792 quarters last season. Corn is a turn dearer; barley and oats dull; beans aud peas are 3d cheaper. At today's market foreign wheats were held better. Holders of American flour ask Is more, but the prico is not often ob tained. Chicago Grain Market, Chicago, April 11.—Wheat active, excited and unsettled. The opening was I%@l>4c per bnshel higher, on account of the government crop report of Saturday; declined Vie on realty, ing sales and weak cables, advanced 1! .;<■ on renewed buying, then weakened and declined on a report of the failure of a prominent grain house in London having interests in Cal ifornia, India and Russia, a rumor that Russia would remove the prohibition on exports, the heavy available supply as shown by Bradstreets, increase in visible supply and gelling by Part ridge, and closed easy, 2%0 lower than Satur day.
