People Who Are at the Seaside—News of
General Interest From La Cres
centa -Notes of Progress
at Norwalk.
Pomona, April 21.—James Dunlap,
now a resident of Perris, formerly an
employee on the Chino ranch, has been
suffering agony since the 2dinst.,with
hiccoughs. Although he is now con
valescent, he lost over forty pounds in
weight, and for a time his life was dis
paired of. The treatment he received
was hypodermic injections of atropia
and morphine.
The Odd Fellows of Pomona and vi
cinity proposa to celebrate the 26th in
an appropriate manner. There is to be
a grand parade At 2 o'clock in the after
noon, headed by the Ninth Regiment
band, to be followed in the evening by a
literary programme, a collation and a
general, social, good time.

and furnishing goods store in Temple
block, formerly occupied by Jacoby

The local talent of Pomona, of com
pany D and the flower mission go to

sent the Confederate Spy. Santa Ana
people will do well to give them a full

Pete Fleming haa sold hia intereat in
the Fleming & Rhorer tunnel and water
syßtem and the Mountain View tract to
his partner. Colonel Rohrer, for $50,000,
and on account of hia poor health haa
left us for a time to take a aea voyage.
N. P. Johnson of the Kingsley tract is
marketing some of the lineet oranges we
have seen this year, for which he is re
ceiving here $2.50 per box.
Juat now the question, "Which shall
it be, a Hill or Cleveland club?" is agi
tating our Pomona Democrats sorely.
You ace, we don't want to be compelled
to change the name, and from the pres
ent outlook we would have to do it if we
named it according to our leanings.
SANTA MONICA.

neighbor in prinking up his plsca, until
the town presents the appearance of a
new town, the only B'nabby buildings
within the corporate limits belonging to
non-residents.
