they are authorized to open, extend or widen
any street, avenue, road or highway to con
form with the plan of the permanent systanr
of hlghwaB in that portion of the District
of Columbia outside of the cities of Wash
ington und Georgetown adopted under the
Act of Congress upprovod March 2. 1893. and
amended by the Act of Congress approved
June 28, 1693, by condemnation under the
provisions of subchapter one of chapter fif
teen of the Code or law of the District of
Columbia), have filed a petition in thl court
praying the condemnation of the land neces
sary for the widening of Cathedral Avenue
and Woodley Road, between Connecticut
Avenue and Wisconsin Avenue, in the Dis
trict of Columbia, as shown on a plat or
map filed with the said petition, us part
thereof, and praying also that a Jury of live
Judicious, experienced, disinterested men,
who shall tw freeholders within the District
of Columbia, not related to any person In
terested In these proceedings, and not In the
servlco or employment of the District of Co
lumbia or of the t'nlted States, be summoned
by the United Statefc marshal for the District
of Columbia to assess the damages each
owner of land to be taken may sustain liy
reason of the said widening of the said
Cathedral Avenue and Woodley Road, and
tho condemnation of the land necessary for
tho purpo&es thereof, and to assess as bene
fits resulting therefrom tne entire amount
of said damages. Including the expenses of
these proceedings upon any lands which the
