HELP -WANTED FEMALE
MISS GREGORY'S
TALKS TO YOUNG WOMEN
NUMBER 52
There are many women in
Washlnrton. I know, who are
tilled with a patriotic longing to
do SOMETHING that will con
tribute to the winning of the war.
They are keenly anxious to "Do
their bit," but. never being faced
with the necessity of earning
money, they lack training In any
special line and feel that there is
no really useful occupation for
which they are fitted.
With such women remuneration
Is not the sole object, an intense
desire to be patriotically useful Is
their aim.
To such women a most useful
war work and one that Is congen
ial also Is that of becoming a
telephone operator. Nor need the
lack of training deter them from
taking up such work.
The C & P. Telephone Company
offers such women pay while
learning; reasonable hours; good
salaries, pleasant sanitary sur
roundings, comfortable rest
rooms, libraries and other essen
tials for relaxation and recrea
tion: a lunchroom where whole
some, appetlxlng meals are served
at cost, and sick benefits.
But, most attractive of all, per
haps. Is the fact that without
telephone operators the telephone
system would break down. With
out the telephone the whole vast
machinery of the government
would be halted The telephone
operator Is a most, important fac
tor In the winning of the war. Jt
is a patriotic profession.
