Superintendent Lambing and Mr. 1!. J. Smyth returned yesterday Irom Washing ton, Fa., where thoy were called on ac count of the strike ol the men employed by Contractor Kimberly on the ditch of thaNatural Gas Company of West Vir ginia. As stated yesterday, the men struck for an advance of 20 percent in their wages. They also demanded that the camp and equipage be moved by the con tractor when a move was necessary, and that their supplies be hauled from the railroad without cost to them. Alii their demands were conceded, and they re sumed work yesterdpy morning at $1 50 a day. The strike causedu good deal of unfavor able comment in town. A strike so early in the progress of the work, after the men had accepted the terms ottered when they were employed, caused surprise and severe criticism. Several of tbo men came to town last evening, and in defence of the Btrlke they Bay that when they woro em ployed they understood that their tents were to he moved from point to point for them and their supplies conveyed from the railroad to their camp free of charge to them. When they wont to work they found that this was a mistake. The re moval of their tents required them to loBe a quarter of a day about every other day, This, at tho wanes paid, made seriouB in roads on their earnings, and they could not stand it.
