The territory In the vicinity of He bron has been coming to the front late ly ut a great rate. When work was Hr.st commenced In that section oil was discovered In the Cow run Hand at a depth of about SOD feet. Later one of the llrinsi got a dry hole In the Cow run iiml went down to tho Keener, where several good producing wells were Rot ten. In this Hand the name story of the dry hob* was repeated ami a well drill ed to the Big Injun by the Carter Oil Company. HI nee the Carter Company drilled In It* first well In the Big Injun sand. Dett man & Watson, Ramey & Co., Shny & McMullen and quite a number of other operators have drilled wells to that sand and have gotten good producers. Thus It looks very much as though a good big Injun pool hud been opened up in that section of Tyler county. There Is u great deal of new work starting and It will be but a nhort time until quite a number of wells will be drilling. There an? now In the neighborhood of twenty live wells drilling In that territory. The well drilled In by the Henry Oil Company on the Holtsclaw farm, near Benwood, In Monroe county, Ohio, men tion of which has been made In these columns, wax reported yesterday to be making a little over uOrt barrels a day. This well show.-; conclusively that some thing of Importance has been opened up In that section and already there has been a wild scramble among the opera tors to get -territory. The Fisher Oil Company has had a well due In the sand In that section for a couple of days, but It has been delayed for some reaaon and is not yet In. It will probably be drilled In to-dav or Friday. The Kanawha Oil Company Is fish ing at three hundred feet at Its wildcat on the L. Kain farm, near Centreville, Tyler county. This com pany holds leases on 10.000 acres of territory, and the well mentioned la one of a series of tern they are drill ing on their holding*.
