I 1320 out of 1392 districts. New York City, McKinley 146,660
; Bryan, 126,913 ; Palmer, 5,403. This gives McKinley
about 20,000 plurality. New York Tribune has telegram from
Mr. Hanna whcih says : "Results exceed all estimates." Tribune
also says : "Altgeld conceeds his defeat in Illinois.

for McKinley : Maryland, Deleware, West Virginia, Michigan,

New York Dispatch From Newark, N. J. says : Democratic
State Committee conceded State to McKinley by ten thousand
plurality. Republicans claimed the state by 40 thousand.

Filed 9 a. m. Everything looks like a Republican landslide
although Chairman Jones says there is no foundation for the
Republican claims and that there is no reason to say that the
States claimed for Bryan have not gone for him. He concedes
defection in Kentucky. The reports all indicate McKinley's
election by large majority. New York for McKinley by over
25,000, Maryland Republican by about 20,000, West Virginia
and Michigan Republican, Chicago gones Republican by 50,000
and that carries Illinois for McKinley, although its not given up

The Republicans are congratulating themselves on what is regarded
as a McKinley sound money landside. Charleston voted
