We Bee that efforts are being made In Lexington to contribute to the success of the Hig Indian Show which Is to come otl In Charleston next Winter. Abbeville will furnish a lot of old rusty canteens, a few sabers or swords that killed Yankees, and a gun or two that some way-faring Yankee lost in bis pilgrimage down South. When Abbeville aud Lexington unite, something will be done. "The Exposition" still gives Interesting accounts of the early settlers In this country From their trade marks, we infer that some of them were in the cattle business. If the bead of a beef Is a proper sign of a meat market, we presume the sign of a whole animal would mean that somebody hRd a cattle rancoe in me neigaoornoou 01 me cnj. The Perle Opera Co. See what an exchange says of the Perle Opera Co. in a performance of "The Beggar KlDg." If hearty laughter and continued applause ia an appreciation of merit, "The Beggar King," which was presented last night by the Perle Opera Co., was undoubtedly an u(?qualified success. The opera la Just what it is termed?a comic opera?abounding in wit, funny situations and plenty of opportunities to display the merlu of the really good company which presented it. It is a performance without a suggestive or exceptional feature, introducing up-to date specialties of high order. The company on the whole is evenly balanoed and an excellent, one, each and every member deserving ih? unstinted praise which their individual efforts brought forth. The company is to give its last performance tonight, and we predict for It a crowded house. The Warehouse. The warehouse at Abbeville, which has been in the course of construction for several weeks, Is nearlng completion. It is situated on the opposite side of the street from the oil mill. Id size It is 30x100 feet, two stories. The walls are thick and strong, and to a lay* man. It appears to be a first class building. , Already goods are being placed within Its , walla. Abbeville has long needed a warehouse, and this building will be a great convenience to | the publio. Sweet Abbeville, oft in comlDg yearn, When life's bright morn Is dimmed with tears. Thy mem'ry oer my soul shall come? My early tboogblB delightful home! Here when my sky was fair and bright And hope shed forth her fair light, I danced away life's golden hours. Mid pleasure's fair and roseate bowers ! My bosom knew no cauf=e of grief. My times of woe were few and brief; My life was like an April dayAlas ! too soon It passed away ! But thee i never can rorcei. Sweet 8pot! the years may paPRqway, Thy memory with me shall stay; I'll think of thee and sadly mourn O'er Joys which never can return !
