trict. beg leave respectilully to pre
seut :--Wo have examined tho Reports
and Returns submitted to us. and after
careful investigation. we believe then to
be. generally correct. For the future.
however, we tnould. recnmmend, that
proper vouchers be returtned in all cases, in
which moneys have been paid out by the
public ollicers of the District.
We have examined, likewise, the Jail,
and find it unsafe for the detention of
prisoners, and unfit for the residence of the
Jailor. We would, therefore, respectfully
suggest,'that a tiew Jail be built of suita
ble strength and dimensions for these pur
poses; and that a new site be purchase
for the erection of the Jail.
We further recommend, that the'
