FOR GENERAL FAMILY AND PLANTA
Directions-'lhe dose is usually from half a
teaspoonful to a tablespoonful, or more in dangerous
cases, varying according to the age of the patient
and severity of the disease-to be repeated every
five, ten or twenty minates till relief is obtained. In
severe attacks in which an immediate action is ne
cessary, it should be given clear. The more dan
gerous the case the larger should be the dose, and
the more frequently repeated. In cases of a mild
nature the dose may be lessened and diluted accor
dingly. It may be given if convenient in about half
a gill or half a tea cupful of warm mint or sage
tea, or warm water sweetened, if preferred, to make
it more palatable.
ENEMA OR,_CLYSTER.-If necessary to act
immediately on the bowels enough for a dose should
be put in about half a gill or ha'f a pint of luke
warm water, varying according to the age, and
given by injection'to aid in bringing about a re-ae
tion. For children this is often the best mode of
administering, especially when an immediate action

inflammation arising from external injuries, or in in
flamed sores or boils, bath with it frequently to re
