Little Etbel Lanham, who has been so sick for several weeks, is much im proved, and we hope will sjon be well again. ^ During the past week the women of Edgefield have sent generous contri butions of fishing and bedding to the Maxwell Orphanage at Greenwood. Dir. Jackson, the green grocer, had a cabbage on Saturday that weighed nineteen pounds, enougn for a full mea! uta boarding house. This is very delightful weather we are having now. Evans for the United States Senate a fine boy was born to Mr. aud Mrs. E. D. Tillman of Vanwyck. They at once named him Joseph Earle.-Lancaster Ledger. [Edgefleld county has dozens of Earles and Ear lee n babies. There are two Joe Earles in the town alone.] A Poiuter. A Maryland dairyman has fourteen acres in sunflowers from which he ex pects a yield of 1,000 bushels of seed. He feeds four pounds of the seed and six pounds of barley ground together, and itfteen pounds of clover bay and thirty pounds sweet ensilage, and claims that he gets 22 to 24 per cent, of cream and makes a high-scoring butter. Commissioners of Election. The Commissioners of Election for Edgefleld County both State and Fed eral, are requested to meet at Edgefleld on .saturday the 17th October for the purpose of appointing managers and attending to other matters pertaining to the election of November 3rd.
