The Johnston Institute.
THERE are schools and schools, but there are some reasons why you should
patronize the Johnston Institute:
1st.-Johnston is a healthful location, on the famous "Ridge," which com
prises portions of Aiken, Edgefleld, Lexington and Saluda Counties. It
% is absolutely free fron, malaria. The same diurnal range of temperature
as Santa Barbara, Cal.
2nd.-Johustou is a moral community with few allurements to vice. .No bar
rooms or vicious company to degrade the students.
3rd.-The Superintendents conduct two boarding halls1-Pickens Hall for
young men and Rebecca Motte Hall for young ladies.' In these Halls the
students are under restrictions and tri ve 'heir undivided time to their
4th.-The Institute is conducted on a Military basis. Boys are permitted, but
nut. required, to. wear uniforms. This uniform is cheap, handsome ami
durab'e. Students are taught to obey, as .one can never rule well until
he first learns to obey well. . ' ?
5tn.-Our course of study is tbocough, practical and progressive. We flt stu
dents for life, as College Diplomas are issued to those who deserve them.
?th.- We have Special Departments offering superior instructions in Book
. keeping, Painting and Music Call and see the character of work done.
Our rooms are open to inspection.
7th.-We have a big school. There is something stimulating and i umpiring about
large schools, because children luarn not only from books but by ab

Herbere, Miss A. S. Arnold, Miss Sophie Swearitigen, Mrs. h. 0. Latimer,
Miss Sue Sloan, Mrs. S. S. Cobb, Mrs. J. H. White, Mrs. A. J. Reamy. We
will add more if necessary.
9th.-Our School is uu.4er Christian influence, but strictly unsectarian. No
narrow denominational lines are drawn.
10th.-We are giving the best possible education at the least pasible cost.
The Institute is the school for the people. Board and tuition from $10
o $12 per month, according to grade. Provisions taken in payment of
