WM Build New Church.
Chester, May 17.-The First Bap
tist church of Chester, the Rev.
Robert G. Lee, Ph. D., pastor, has
.decided to erect a magnificent new
?church building. A committee has
3)een appointed to confer with ar
.chitects and submit a plan to the
congregation at an early,date.
Since Dr. Lee came to Chester
something more than a month ago,
the congregation, already large, has
grown wonderfully, and at practi
cally every service there has been an
overflow. The lack of room is felt
in all departments, but particularly
in the Sunday school, which has been
"growing marvelously.
It is hoped to make the new struc
ture one of the most complete in
every respect in this section of the
state.
Beginning: Monday, May 23rd.
We, the undersigned merchants, do
hereby agree to close our respective
places of business at 6:00 P. M. This
hour is observed . by'Jthe larger cities
and stores, and we think that the buy
ing public will, patronize those mer
chants who are trying to keep the town
.up with the times and not let it slip
behind in the ^race. Our stores will
close on July 4th. ? . ~~- '

Our journey's end we'll reach by

A prayer that we should pray.
If I should die before tomorrow ,
What's my record for today? (
Have I somewhere caused pain or

Will my death sleep be soul-stirring

VALUE OF A TECHNICAL
EDUCATION
A technical education is the best
insurance against hard times. In
earning capacity, it may equal an
estate of $50,000. For the untrain
ed are the positions of poverty and
obscurity.
Times are hard in South Carolina,
but the cost of an education at
Clemson College is comparatively
low,-sufficiently low to be within
the r?ach of any ambitious young
man in South Carolina.
Scholarships, free tuition and the
payment by the United Staten Gov
ernment to R. O. T. C. students,
still further reduce the cost.
Do not allow the financial difficul
ties to keep you from entering col
lege this fall to prepare yourself for
the opportunities that lie ahead.
