Ho is still being cared for at tho An
derson Hospital. His sister, Mrs. J.
R. Anderson, of Anderson, is with
him as much as possible, and Mrs.
W. I). Moss, of Walhalla, another
sister, visits him as frequently as the
distance will permit.

terest to Oconee friends was sol
emnized in Asheville. X. C., on April
12th. when Mrs. Mamie McDonald
Blackwell was united in marriage to
William S. Blackwell. Theijweddtng
occurred at the homo of Mr. and Mrs.
J. II. Blackwell, brother anrj sister
in-law of the gropm, the^ ceremony
being performed by Rev. Willem P.
Chedster, pastor of the Ora> Street
Presbyterian church. Mrs. Blackwell
ls the second daughter of Mrs. M. J,
McDonald, of Richland. Mr. Black
well is a well-known retired business
man of Reidville, X. C. Ppr the pres
ent they will reside nt Richland. A
host of Oconee friends join in extend
ing to Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell every
good wish.
-Mrs. Alice Br?cke, wife of Hen
ry Br?cke, died at her homo in Pick
ens county, on Monday. April 3d. She
was sick only a few days, when death
came to relieve her sufferings. Sho
was a good woman and a 'rue friend,
and will be greatly missed by all who
knew her. Mrs. Umeko was 12 years
ol age, having been horn July Sth,
1870. Tho Lord saw ?ii to call her
homo, and when the doa rh angel
came sho was ready lo go. Sho leaves
to mourn ber death ber husband, six
children, ber mother, four brothers
and two sisters, besides other rela
tives and friends. Her body was laid
to rest at tho (lap Hill Methodist,
cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, the
.Ith of April. We join with others in
extending to the bereaved ones sin
cero sympathy in their sorrow.

-Tuesday night of last week Ru
ral Policeman W, A. Lawless and his
bro;ber. Karie Lawless, captured a
35-gallon copper still and outfit com
plete and oiMt gallons of beer. The
still was in full operation. The raid
occurred ni night and tho parties es
caped. On last Friday evening Sher
iff W. M. Alexander. Deputy Cns Sul
livan and Rural Policeman W. L. Lit
tleton captured an outfit of about G?
gallons capacity, the plant being in
full ron ration at tho time of tho raid,
lt was located on Keowce river above
Salem. The officers destroyed about
1,200 gallons of beer and ten gal
lons of whiskey. Tho parties escaped.
On Monday Deputy Sullivan and Po
liceman Hunnicutt raided a still near
Xew Madison, capturing a 40-gnllon
outfit complete, in full operation, de
stroying 1,300 gallons of beor and
15 gallons of whiskey. The parties
made good their escape. On Friday
last Officer Hunnicutt brought two
men and lodged them In jail, charged
wit., having in their possession a
considerable quantity of liquor. The
men were Dock McDonald and C. E.
Cobb. They were captured In the
Seneca mill village with 4% gallons
of whiskey in their possession. They
made bond and were released. The
officers aro finding it extremely hard
to make an arrest, these days. The
moonshiners, they say, aro so well
organized, and have the country In
the vicinity of thc stills so thorough
ly picketed, th it is almost impos
sible to go! In on tho workers before
they are warned of the approach of
officers by confederated on outpost
duty. Rut "then 'I! omo a time some
day," they feel stuc.
