M. Brown has n large force ot carpenters and plumbers nt work enlarging and repairing tho old Whitewater Inn and equipping it with a modern water, light and sew er system. This will be the adminis tration building and nucleus of the camps for girls. The building known ;:?< ibo Glazener house is being en larged io more than double its pres ent capacity and equipped with wa ter, baths and sewerage. This will bo operated as tho hostess house for tko camps, where parents and friends wishing to visit children at the camps, and the publie, will be enter tained. This feature is proving very popular, both locally and at a dis lance. Many mothers are placing their older children in the camps and taking reservations for themselves ?nd the younger children at tho hos tess house. Tho regular camping program will not begin until July 1th, but during June the camps will be open to camping parties, week-end parties or any one who may wish to camp for a few days or weeks. Quito a number have already made reservation for ibis period. The camping program contin tes through September, the camp for boys arni giris being fol lowed by one for business and pro fessional women, 'cbc hostess house will be open to the public from July 1st until Oct. 1st. li will bo con ducted by Mrs. L. A. Wallace, of Pendleton. Rev. I. E. Wallace, of Seneca, is director of the camps. Inmate Kills Supt, of Almshouse. Columbia, May L'O.-Rev. John V. Davis, retired Methodist minister and Superintendent of the Richland coun ty almshouse, was shot to death early Sunday morning by J. W. Crocker, one of tho residents of the county home. Crocker fired two shots, the first Inflicting a flesh wound in tho left leg. t li ti second penetrating tho i chest, tho bullet passing through tho heart. Death was instantaneous. ? Kev. Davis was 7 2 years of ago and ; Crocker is 62. There was one cyc ' witness, a young woman at tho home. Crocker was immediately arrested and placod in tho county jail. Card of Thanks.
