unbounded confilence in the future of
Seneca, and without doubt it is well
founded. The property will he managed
by Frank 'M. Cara, whose atbility has
made the Keowoe a succes.
Mr. J. W. Young is certainly flourish
ing at Huntington Ark. The town was
only founded-eipht months ago, and it,
now has at pouiation of 1600. Coal is
the.magnet. "On the :3d of April Mr.
Young was elected iirvt mayor of the
town. Huntington is in a healthy part
of the State, but the.uneasles and mumps
get there. All of Mr. Young's family
--wife and ten boys-have just recovered
from them. Mrs. Young was very sick,
but is now out of danger.
Prof. Andersoui's exhibition -it 'Cross
Roads School-house last Friday evening
was well attended, and a compkitc suc
cess. The progrnmme was wdll gotten
up~ and thoroughly enjoyed by the. aud
ionce. Mr. 'Child's speech was one c
histmnoet happy effort4, and elicited the
most enthusiastic :q:gylause. TIhe exer
cines of the school will be8 resumed after

The closing exereises of Miss Hester
Lewis' school at Union school hlouse,
was wvell attended'by manmy of the pat
rons 'last Frida~y. 'The examinations
showed comnmenadable progress. 'Tho
first p,rize was won by Miss Lucy Gaines.
In a class of fifteen she received fourteen
head marks. . Second prize was won b)y
Miss Nannie -Owens. Ini a class oif five,
she received twventy-eight head marks.
