Since our last review there has been a better Inquiry
than has existed for tho past two or ?hreo weeks, which
has beou confined, ho wovor, exclusively to buyers ou
Nor horn account. There are uo European biiyors In
tho market, and the transactions have not been very
heavy. We have heard of sales being made on tho
basifl of 20 conts for ordinary, and 30 to 32 cents for
middling. Somo few lots lots changed hands to-day at
83c. Holders evinced mueh firmness, caused, no doubt,
toy the recent accounts of an advance of Ji to Id In thu
European markets. The receipts are rapidly falling off,
and the oxports are now exceediog the receipts, not
withstanding the scarcity of shipping in our port.
It Sea Island cotton teere is nothing doing, and tho
market is much depressed. There is little or none ol
tho finer descriptions on the market, and 50c is 'ho quo
tatlon for common brand*.

NEW ORLEANS, , July 10?Cotton.?The markot
-opened this morning with only a limited inquiry, aud
contlnuod dull and drooping throughout the day, with
very little competition among buyers. Factors who
desired to realize wero consequently compelled to make
further concessions, and the prices paid indicated a
decline of fully lo from yesterday's rates. Tho sales
com i rised 030 bales, taken by five brokers at figures ap
proximating to the following quotations: Ordinary, 34
to 20c; good ordinary, 28 to 29c; low middling, 30 to 33o;
middling, 34c. At the same time it should be observed
that most tactors are holding above theso figures, while
on the other hand some parties olalm that they can buy
still lower. ? '
The sales of tbe past threo days sum up 3250 bales.
The receipts, proper, since Friday evening (exolusive of
the arrivals from Mobile, Florida and Texas, which are
included in their respectivo statements), embrace 1340
bales, against 2028 during the corresponding period last
woek, showing a decrease of 6B8 bales. The exports
comprise 4470 bales, 1371 of which were to foreign ports.
And 1305 Coastwise.

LONDON MONEY MARKET.
The weekly returns of the Bank of kngland show an
increase in the bullion of ?191,373 sterling, and In the
reserve of notes of ?279,31)6. The returns were not suf
ficiently satisfactory to lnduco the Bank Directors to
reduce the rate of discount, which still remains at 10
per cent, greatly to the disappointment of the commer
cial public. The eharge of 10 per cent, has been boano
for a longer period than on any previous occasion. The
suspension la announced of Messrs. Dadabbai, Maoroji
ft Co, East India merchaota, London, with liabilities
amounting to over ?800,000 sterling.
The steck market was dull. Consols closod on the

discount in connection with the closing payments of
