MOBILE, July 31.- ' OTTON.- The excitement having

at flrat thought to bo. it Is certain that the same ex

market waB roported firm last evening and this morn
ing, the aame activity did not prevail thete as here.
The "treaty of peaco" feigned between "Austria and
Prussia," turns out to-day to be nothing more than au
-"armistice" of "four woekB" between the contouring
-powers, which may bring peace or end with the renewal
of h 0 Ht 11 it le h.
The declino lu Consols and Fivo-twentiee, togother
with tho absence of a further advance in Cotton on tho
_8th, appears io usas Rug.t-sttve of a waut ??f confidence,
"or, at least.- unccrtaiuty. in L.ndon and Liverpool.
"There is not-tag from tho Paris Dourso. which would
.naturally be tho -unst sensitive point now to indicate
What the fooling there is. But, as communication be
tween this coiiutry and Europe 1b si> rapid and easy
now, our merchants eau afford to wait lor further and

NEW ORLEANS. July 31 -Cotton-The market

-the China's advices, which were at band yesterday.
Thore was a fair inquiry noticeable throughout, how

in full average sale , but the supply, especially of the
better grados, was of a rent r lui ort character throughout,
.and.operations have been confined to 1300 balee, divided
among ten brokera, without any alteration in quota
