Nansomond vs. the British ship Lampcdo. It will
bo remembered that this ship went upon Warsaw
South Breakers on a recent voyage to this port.
Sho was pulled off tho breakers and beached on
Warsaw Island, wlioro sho was subsequently sold.
This action is for salvage-services of the ?lucera
and crow of tho Nansomond, in releasing her from
tho breakers and h "aching her upon tho island.
Mr. Williams represented the libellants, and Mr.
Lloyd tho respondents.

Brutal KltntDEB.-A? aged mttidon lady living
near Buff's station, on tho Western and Atlantic
Railroad, was brutally murdered ono night last
week-it is supposed about Thursday night. Sho
lived alone, anil her body was not discovered un
til Saturday. Somo eight or ten negroos and a
white man have been arrested, charged with hav
ing perpetrated the crime. Wo did not leam tho

Sad Accident.-Wo regret to leam that on
Tuesday night last Alfred W. Shaw, Esq.,
had his left hand badly shattered by the accidental
bursting of a gun in his hand. He was aroused by
a noise in tho yard, and, going out, ho firod at
some object, when tho gun burst. Mr. Shaw serv
ed through tho war, and wo regret lo chroniclo
this accident-anl hope he may soon recover from

Fatai. Accident.-This morning, about cloven
o'clock, Mr. Potor Straub mot with a fatal accident.
It appears that lie was in the act of driving past n
tree, which was being bown down, on Grocno
stroct, just above Jackson, when it fell across tho
vehicle in which ho was, destroying it, and so
soriouslv injuring bim that ho survived but a short
