THE BAILY NEWS.
Ann uar)-.
BT ALFRED TEXNTSON.
How parc at heart and sound in bead,
With what divine affections bold.
Should bethe min whose thought would hold
An hour's communion with the dead.
In vain ahalt thou, or any, call
The spirits (rom their golden day,
Except, like them, thou too canst say,
My spirit is at peace with al'.
Ihev haunt the silence o? the breast.
Imaginations calm and lair,
The memory like a c ou Hess air,
The conscience as a sea at test
But when the heart is full of din,
And doubt beside the portal waits,
They can but listen at the gates,
And hear the household jar within.

THE V?RY HIGHEST PRIZE-THE,IMPERIAL

upon th.? rcurescnuuve of the GROVES k BAKER
SEWING MACHINES at the Exposition Universelle,
Paris, 18157.
The GROVER 4 BKKER FAMILY SEWING MA?
CHINES ore the only Machines that can both sew
perfectly and tinbroider perlectly.
They sew with threads direct from the spool, and
re [uire no re-winding.
Unlike other Machines, these fasten both ends of
the seam by their own operation.
With these Machines, while silk is used upon the
right or face-side of the seam, cotton may be used
upon the other sile. This can be done on no other
Machine, and is a great saving upon all articles
i-titched or made up with silk.
