BOSTON, December 14.-COFFEE.-There have
been sales of 3700 pockets Singapore Java at a
price not public; but In other descriptions scarce?

COTTON.-The market for cotton has been dull
during the week and prices have cased orla little,
although no material change. The arrivals have
oeen large, principally on manufacturers' ac?
count, and there has, in consequence, been but a
limited demand.. Advices from abroad are no:
favorable, and the large receipts at Southern
ports also tend to check transactions. The sales
have been at i2Xal4c for ordinarv; i4??al5Xc for
good ordinary; 15Xal5Kc for low middling, and
15KalCc for middling, including uplands and
emf.. The market closes qule at these figures.
DOMESTICS.-Market for cotton goods has been
rather more active, and leading styles are firm
and prices well sustained. The. sales, however,
have not been to any extent: heavy woollens are
dnU, bat clothiers are purchasing more freely for
spring goods. We look for a quiet market until
arter the new year.
FRUIT.-Malaga raisins are quiet, and the sales
have been confined to small lots at $2 75 per box
forlayers. Small packages are :arce. Smyrna
figs have been In fair demand at I2a25c per pennd,
as to quality. Dates have advanced to 9Val0c
per pound for jobbing lots; and Virginia peanuts
Jiave been selling at $1 50o2 per bushel. By auc?
tion, landing from bark Azelia, from Smvrna. 45,

tags, and prices are tending upward. Sales of

GUNNY CLOTH.-There ls very little doing in
gunny cloth, and the market remains dull with?
out improvement. We quote sales at 23a2<c per
yard, currency, for Calcutta and domestic.
RICE.-The market is quiet and prices arc a

NAVAL STORES.-The market for spirits turpen?

week ending December 16.
NEW YORK!, December 17.-THE MARKET.-In
our last report the market closed dull at I5}?c for
middling. Saturday the market was dun and
prices were a shade lower; sales 150G bales: mid
d)ings 15%c. Monday the market was dui: and
unchanged; sales 3730 bales. Tuesday there was
a moderate business transacted nt easier prices;
sales 4244 bales; middling 15%c. Wednesday the
market opened with a steadier feeling, but influ?
enced by large receipts, became dull, ana closed
with a depressed feeling; middlings 15}?'; sales
4223 bales. Thursday the market opened with a
depressed feeling, and holders were anxious to
realize, but towards the clomof the day the pub?
lic advices from Liverpool were or a more favora?
ble character, and, with moderate receipts at the

mand continues comparatively moderate, bat as
the stock has become somewhat reduced, holders
are rather firmer and insist upon extreme figures.

dull.
From the Journal of Commerce: There is no
change to note. The receipts are light, and there
is not much stock here, which give holders some
confidence; but the demand ls so limited that thc
