Tho French papers tell a good story
about Victor Emanuel. Ho was
driving down to his hunting seat, at
Mandria, near Torin, on the6th ult,
when his carriage was stopped by
foot-pads, who levied block mail from
the Be Galantuomp. Ho had an es?
cort, but his horses, being fast trot?
ters, hod left the lumbering cattle of
the carbineers a long way behind, and
when they came up, the gentlemen of
tho highway had got clear off.
DISOBEDIENCE.-It is usual with
God to retaliate men'3 disobedience
to their parents in kind; commonly
our own children shall pay us home
for it. I have read of a wicked
wretch that dragged his father along
the house; the father begged of him
not to draw him beyond such a
place, for, said he, I dragged my
father no farther. This was a sad but
just retribution of God.
A paper gives tho following reasons
for not publishing a poetic effusion :
"The rythm sounds like pumpkins
rolling over a barn floor, while some
lines appear to have been measured
with a yard stick, and others with a
ten foot pole."
On a physician admonishing a pa?
tient, on one occasion, against his
supposed habit of eating too fast, and
telling him that bolting the food was a
bar to digestion, he said: "Youspeak
j'ron-icaUy, doctor."
An old bachelor, passing up White?
hall, and seeing the words "Families
Supplied," over the door pf a shop,
stopped in and said he would take a
wife and two children.
A man, much addicted to snoring,
remarked to his bed-fellow, this
morning, that he had slept like a top.
"I know it," said the other, "like a
humming top."

The Great American Blood Purifier.
TUB QUEEN'S DELIGHT !
THE QUEEN'S DELIGHT, tho great
American Alterative and Blood Pnri
flor, ia the* moat perfect vegetable com
Sound of altoratives, tonics, diuretics and
iaphorotics; making it tho most effeotive
invigorating, rejuvenating aud blood
cleansing cordial known to tho world.
In introducing this new and extraordi?
nary medicine to tho public, observation
leads us tn remark that too little attention
is paid to the "lifo of all flesh," tho blood.
Many diseases, and, too. many complaints,
which havo their origin in a vitiatod state
of the blood, are treated only as symptoms
and results: whereas, if tho remedy had
been applied to enrich tho blood and ren?
der it pure, both canso and effect would
have been removed. Tho Queen's Delight
is offered to the afllictcd as a sure remedy
for those diseases arising from an impure
condition of tho blood. It has a direct
and specific action upon that fluid, and
consequently rcudcrs the blood puro. It
is said, on high authority, that "man no
sooner begins to live than ho begins to
dio, and that tho characteristics of thc
living organism aro ceaseless chango and
ceaseless waste." It is obvious, thoreforo,
to every reflecting 'mind, that unless tho
blood is pure, in supplying tho wasto tis?
sues with material, it must be tho cause of
innumerable ills aud constitutional disor?
ders, such as Scrofula, Rheumatism, He?
patic Disorders, Consumption, Inflamma?
tions, Fevers, Ac. Lifo and health is only
to be maintained by the circula tion of pure
arterial blood.
We therefore advise every one whoso
blood is in tho least vitiated by indulgence
or excess, and whose constitution is im?
paired by disease and is suffering from
Rheumatism, Liver Complaint, Consump?
tion, Scrofula or King's Evil, Carbuncles,
Boils, Itching Humor of the Skin, Erysi?
pelas, Skin Diseases, Tetter, Roughness of
ibo Skin, Pimples, Blotches, Pains in tho
Bones, old Ulcars, Syphilis and Syphilitic
Sores, Indigestion, Inflammation of tho
Bladder and Kidneys, Pains in tho Back,
General Dobility, and for all complaints
arising from deflcioncy and povorty of
blood, to uso tho Queen's Delight.
Females of delicate constitution, suffer?
ing from weakness and depression of mind
in consequence of thoso complaints which
naturo imposes at tho period of chango,
havo a pleasant and sure remedy in tho
Queen's Delight.
Children whose fair and ruddy complex?
ion gave carly promise of health aud
beauty, but too soou become blanched and
palo by some hereditary taint of tho blood,
will havo tho rich hoon restored by using
the Queen's Delight.
Tho unaccliro ted and persons traveling
into warm countries will find tho Queen's
Delight a great protection from all malari?
ous affection and diseases which originate
in a chango of climate, diet and Ufo.
Tho extraordinary and unprecedented
cures performed by tho Queen's Delight
Compound is attracting tho attention of
every ono, not only at home, but abroad.
Tho merits of this compound are being
felt and appreciated everywhere. Hear
what they say of it in Now York: "It ia a
remedy of much importance and value,
exerting an inllucnco over all thc secre?
tions, which is unsurpassed by any other
known alterative. It is extensively used in
all the various forms of primary and
secondary syphilitic affections; also, in
scrofulous, hepatic and cutaneous diseases,
in which its uso is followed by.thc most
successful results."
Its properties as a remedy wore first in?
troduced to tho notice of tho profession by
Dr. Thos. Young Simons, of South Carolina,
dB early as 1828, as a valuable al t erat i ve re?
medy in syphilitic affections, and others re?
quiring uso of m ( reurv. Dr. Simons' state?
ments liavo been endorsed and extended
by Dr. A. Lopez, of Mobilo, and Dr. H. B.
?TOst, of Charleston. From tho reports in
its favor, there seems no reason to doubt
tho eflicacy of this medicine in Secondary
Syphilis, Scrofula, Cutaneous Diseases,
Chronic Hepatic Affections and other com?
plaints benefited by alterative medicines.
