ported from Arizona that a compauy
of United States troops have been de?
feated by the Indians and forty
killed, and n train of seventy mules
loaded with goods captured.
NEW ORLEANS, May 14.-Two im
portaut decisions were rendered in
the Supreme Court of Louisiana, yes?
terday. In the case of Wayewright
vs. Bridges, the court holds that no
recovery can be had. of notes given
for thu purchase of slaves. In the
case of Bower vs. Shackelford, tho
court holds, as previous, that no reco?
very can be had of notes based on
Confederate money; iu other words,
such money v.ns illegal, and of no
^consideration; and further, that notes
"signed before the passago of the
stamp law, do not require a stamp tc
be used as evidence.
