WASHINGTON, Jane 1.-Tho Secre?
tary of the Treasury hus forbidden

merchant, who escaped Confederate
service, by furnishing a substitute,
was refused registration. There is
considerable excitement and much
dissatisfaction, but no trouble is ap?
prehended on Monday.
WASHINGTON, June 1.-Tho Now

by the State Department. Brazil,
tho Argentine Republic and Oriental

NEW ORLEANS, Juno 1.-Hon. L. D.
Campbell has received a letter from
tho United States Consul at Mata?
moros, confirming reports of the fall
of Ojueretaro and tho capture of
Maximilian and his Generals. Mr.
Marshall, Consul at Mntnmoras, has
just arrived jn town. He brings no
later intelligence; ho probably came
on with his own despatches.
A letter has been received here by
an Imperialist, dated Monterey, 21st,
but it makes no mention of the cap?
ture of Maximilian, which is rather
singular.
