Virginia Rcpublleuii Convent ion.
.. RICHMOND, August 1.-Tho Repub?
lican Convention mot this morning.
There were about 5.000 persons pre?
sent-nearly all blacks. Tho African ,
Church, upon being opened, was im?
mediately filled, and a motion was
mado to adjourn to Capitol Square,
which was carried. After arriving
there, Mr. Hawthorne, of Alexandria,
was appointed temporary Chairman;
and Mr. Whittlesey, of tho same
place, temporary Secretary. A recess
was then taken, to appointa Commit?
tee to report on permanent officers.
J. W. Hunnicutt delivered a short
address, in which he counselled har?
mony in the d?lib?rations of tho body,
for they wore this day looked to by
the whole country, and by hundreds
of thousands of blacks, whose fathers
had looked prayerfully forward to
such a day as this. The rebels of
Richmond and their press were look?
ing joyfully for a disturbance in the
convention, and ho wanted them dis?
appointed. This was a mass conven?
tion, and ho wanted all Republicans
represented in it. Those who could
not endorso the Republican platform
of April, might go home, as they
were not wanted hore; any mon who
came here to break up the Republican
party of Virginia were scoundrels and
hypocrites, and would meet the odium
they merited.
Mr. Tucker, of Alexandria, moved
tho appointment of fifty able-bodied
men, to clear the ground and keep
order for the convention at the Capi?
tol Square, which was agreed to,
Before the meeting was fully organ?
ized, several conservatives delivered
addresses; ono of whom protested
against proscribing any man now for
his past political opinions, and assert?
ed that the Republican party was not
strong enough in the State to throw
away such aid; it was not strong
enough at the North either,
After the appointment of commit?
tees, Sec., a recess was then taken till
S p. m.
During tho recess speeches were
delivered, in which doini Minor Botts
and his clique were denounced, as
trying to make the Republican party
of tho State subservient to his inter?
ests, or break it up.
"When the convection re-assembled,
Mr. John Hawxhurst was declared
permanent Chairman. The platform
adopted in April was re-affirmed. A
proposition was made to conciliate
with the "bolters," who were holding
a meeting in another part of tho
grounds; as it was declared impolitic
to enter the campaign with two par?
ties, which would bo ruinous. The
colored sergeant-at-arms seized a mau
by the collar who attempted to speak,
and a row was anticipated, but finally
tho convention adjourned, to meet
to-morrow, at 10 o'clock.

Liver Complaint Cured by Queen's
Delight.
THE symptoms of Liver Complaint are
uneasiness and pain in the right aide,
and soreness upon touch immediately
under the inferior ribs; inability to he
upon the left side, or, if at all, a dragging
sensation is produced winch seriously
affects respiration, causing, very often, a
troublesome cough. Together with these
symptoms, wo perceive a coated tongue,
acidity of tho stomach,.deficiency of per?
spiration, and sometimes a sympathetic
pain iu tho shoulder, with a groat disposi?
tion to sleep, and depression of spirits,
and sometimes sores in tho mouth or
throat. These symptoms, if pormitted to
continue, will eventually produce consump?
tion, tho most baneful of all diseases..
Dyspepsia.
Tho symptoms of Dyspepsia are various;
those affecting tho stomach are nausea,
heart-burn, loss of appetite, disgust for
food, sometimes a depraved appetite,
sense of fulness or weight in the stomach,
sinking or fluttering in the pit of tho sto?
mach, sour eructations, coated tongue,
acidity of the stomach, hurried and difli
cult breathing, ?tc.
The sympathetic affections are very di?
versified- cold feet, pain or weakness
through tho limbs, swimming of tho hoad,
sudden flushes of beat, Ac.
The uso of thc QUEEN'S DELIGHT
should bo persevered in until every symp?
tom ot Dyspepsia ha-j vanished, and health
is entirely restored.
Derangements of the Liver and
Stomach
Are sources of insanity. From disorder
or obstruction, a morbid action of thc sym?
pathetic and other nerves follows, and tbs
[unctions of the brain are impaired and
deranged; derangement there will also
produce disease of ibo heart, skin, lungs
and kidneys. It is owing to tho same
causo that thousands die with Cholera.
Dillons or Yellow Fever, and that mos;
baneful disease, Consumption.
Tho origin of numerous cases of Con?
sumption is im paired digestion; and many,
many casca of supposed Consumption
could bo entirely cured by the uso of the
QUEEN'S DELIGHT, as" the emaciation,
debility and cough attending weakness of
tho digestive organs are so near allied to
tho symptoms of Consumption, that the
one disease is frequently mistaken for the
other.
Notice.
lt is a well-established fact that fully
ono-half of thc female portion of our
population aro seldom in tuc enjoyment of
good health, or, to use their own* expres?
sion, "never feel well." They aro languid,
devoid of all energy, extremely nervous
and have no appetite. To thia class of
invalids, the Queen's Delight is especial!;;
recommended. Their peculiar tonio and
invigorating properties render it invalua?
ble in such cases. The patient should im?
mediately discard all pills and powders, as
they only weaken the system, and resort to
tho uso of tho Queen's Delight, the inva?
riable result of which will be a strong and
hearty constitution, a disappearance of all
nervousness, a good appetite and a perfect
restoration to health.
Weak and delicate children are mado
strong by using the Queen's Delight. In
fact, it is a Family Medicino; it can bo ad?
ministered with perfect safety to a child
three months old, the most delicate female
or a mau of ninety.
