INTERESTING GEOIIOQIOAII DISCOVE
BIBS.-Wo bave frequently referred
to the developments which have been
made by Prof. Francia S. Holmes, in
connection with the post-pleiocene
beds ou Ashley River, where the
operations of the South Carolina
Mining Comp? uy are now being so
successfully conducted. Yesterday
we had the pleasure of inspecting
three new specimens from this bed
a brick unburned, evidently the han?
diwork of a race who existed long
before the red men-a section of an
elephant's tooth, and a perfectly pre?
served horse tooth in a state of petri?
fication. Every day seems to add
now proofs to the theory which the
Professor has advocated so zealously
and ably for .years past, in reference'
to the existence of races on this con?
tinent, and in this locality, before the
so;called aboriginal Indians; and we
congratulate him on the uew evidence
which his science and perseverance
have enabled him to accumulate in
ita support.-Charleston Courier.
The Newark inventor of the steam
man promises lo in vont a steam horse
that will plow or run over a race
course.
Oas uillii for January.
CONSUMERS will please attend to tho
J payment of the above without delay,
as the rule wdl positively 1>H enforced
against defaulters. JACOB LEVIN,
Secretary Columbia Gas Compauy.

"The Queen of Medicine."
AN ascription of praise moro worthy the
triumphs of art than gilded obelisks,
or monuments of atone, is the voluntary
testimony of a grateful people. A thou?
sand hearts, and as mauy ready tongues,
yield a willing and a thankful tributo of
praise to the merits of that incomparable
panacea,
HEINirSH'8 QUEEN'it DELIGHT.
These are the living trophies:
"Snatched from tho curse disease has
brought,
To Bpeak tho triumphs skill has wrought."
In the brief period of twelve months,
over 3,000 cases nave been troated so suc?
cessfully as to entitle it to be the wonder
of the ago.
For debility, prostration, nervousness,
mental depression, impaired digestion,
loss of appetite, restlesneas, want of vital
force and low spirits, it is more invigorat?
ing and strengthening than all tho com?
pounds of bark or bitters. As a liver
invigorator, it is of inestimable value. As
a stimulant, it is safer and surer than all
tho rum and whiskey tonics of tho day,
and if you value your life and health a
