business, the tax bill was resumed
and considerable progress made, but
the attendance was sbm, and all im?

ance. Tho Conference Committee
on Arkansas reported, but, on mo?
tion to table the report, no quorum
voted, and the House adjourned to
Monday.
The Government, it is announced,
will mako no changes in the Secre?
tary's office.
Internal revenue receipts for tho
week, $6,346,000.
Customs receipts for the week end?
ing on the 30th are near 83,000,000.
The Corruption Committee do not
seem disposed to disturb Woolley in
his prison.
The Senate, in executive session,
rejected McClellan as Minister to
England, and confirmed Alford Tra?
cy, collector of the first revenue dis?
trict of Louisiana. The Conference
Committee on Arkansrs agreed to the
House bill, with the additional stipu?
lation that, any alteration in the said
Constitution prospective in its effects,
may be made in regard to the time
and place of residenoe of voters.
The Conference Committee's report
on the admission of Arkansas will
certainly be adopted in the House on
Monday*
NEW YORK, June 6.-Tiie Brewers'
Association have sent a delegation to
Washington, to urge Congress to let
the tax on beer and hops alone.
CaUicott, Wright and Allen were
sentenced to-day, iu accordance with
the verdict. The crowd was im?
mense, and the scene very impress?
ive. The convicts were men of good
standing, who had defrauded the
Government of immense amounts of
whiskey tax.

States, soldiers got in a scrimmage

citizens,' which resulted in one of the
'boys in blue' having his throat cut.

and is now in jail. Wo havo not
heard of any serious results accruing
to the soldier, the wouud not having
penetrated deeply enough."
