to hasten to the Holy City and prostrate
himself at the feet of the Pontiff, be?
seeching a forgiveness which he would
be certain to obtain if so sought. The
Pere replied to tho Bishop in words of
respect and good feeling, declining to
pursue the course which he advised, and
re-affirming his position in these words:
