THE DAILY
'Let our Ju ct Censure
Attend the True Event.'
BY J. A. SELBY
COLUMBIA. 8. C.. SATURDAY MORNING. APRIL 9. 1870
VOL. YI-NO. 18.
The Noir Hirmpohire 'people are d?lly
oxpooting to hear tho report of a couple
of double-barrel shot-gunB in deadly con?
flict. In. a sermon not long ago, the
HGV. Mr. Blake, of Coucord, eo id that at
a late woman suffrage Convention there,
an indecent story was told, at which the
women clapped their hands in eager de
light, and that some of the female speak?
ers used language which was exceedingly
immodest, to say the least of it. Where?
upon, the Rev. Mr. Levering, of the
same town, published n card in reply, in
which ho says, among other things of the
sort: "I pronounce all this to be an un?
mitigated falsehood." At Inst accounts,
these brothers were standing on the bank
of the river, waiting for the subsiding of
a spring freshet, in order to go over into
a neighboring bottom and fight it out.
THE BBITISH NATUBALIZATION REFORM.
Great Britain, first by treaty with Hon.
Reverdy Johnson, and now by statute,
originating in tho Houso of Lords, and
since concurred in by the Commons,
abandons the old decree of "onco n sub?
ject, alwoys a subject." Tho new order
provides that British subjects natural?
ized in tho United Kingdom, aro free
from primitive allegiance. It also re?
moves many disabilities, and gives adapt?
ed citizens tho right to hold and convey
land, enter Parliament, and become
members of the Privy Council. The
absence of the drat concession led to thc
war of 1812, and tho latter is liberal al?
most beyond precedent for Europe.
A Nias JURYMAN.-A Quincy corres?
pondent of the Tallahassee Floridian
relates the following incident as having
occurred in Court there recently:
"A negro juror was asked by the acting
States Attorney if ho bad taken an oath
in any secret orgauization, wheu acting
as a juror, not to bring in a verdiel
against any ono of his color whore s
white man was interested. Ho repli?e
he had. The Judge immediately order
ed his name to be stricken from the lisi
of jurors."
Never since tho invention of gun
powder were there so many duels or
hand at one time as thero aro nt tin
present moment. This extraordinary
demand* for pistols and coffee, innngu
rated among tho newspapers of Cincin
nnti, has given au impetus to that lim
of trade throughout the country that i
hasn't known before iu forty years.
POLLOCK'S.-Meals furnished at al

Billiard-Players, go to Pollock's.
In order that the merits of tho "Oh

and every person bo benefit ted by them
Mr. Solomon will give it gratuitous!
to such persons in ill health as are un?

purchase them.
Those in want of Canary Birds an
Cages, should go to Pollock's.
Thirsty people, go to Pollock's.
By the death of his brother at Sa'

DISEASES OF THE KIDNEYS AND
BLADDER.
Persons unacquainted with the structure
and functions of tho Kidneys, cannot estimate
the importance ?d' their healthy action.
Regular and sufficient action ot the Kidneys
is aa important, nay, oven moreno, than regu?
larity of tho bowels. Tho Kidneys remove
from tho Blood th uso effete mattera which, if
permitted to remain, would speedily destroy
lifo. A total suspension of the urinary dis?
charges will occasion ilea th from thii ty six te
forty-eight hours.
When tho Urine is voided in small quanti?
ties at tho time, or when there is a disposition
to Urinate moro frequently than natural, or
when tho Urine is high colored or scalding,
with weakness in tho small of the ba?k, it
should not bo trilled with or delayed, but
Koskoo should be taken ht once to remedy thu
dilliculty. before a lesion of tho organs takes
place. Most of tho diseases of the Bladder
originate from those ot the KidnuA s, the Urine
being imperfectly secreted in thu Kidneys,
prove irritating to tho Bladder and UrinalV
passages. When wo recollect that medicine
never reaches the Kidneys except through tho
general circulation of tho Blood, wo sen how
necessary it is to keep tho Fountain of Lifo
Puro.
