dyspepsia ingall its stages. Ibo true policy,
however, is to extinguish it in the first stages
with thia wholesome, powerful and infallible
tonio and alterative. lt is easier to quench a
spark than a flame, and it is oaaier to cure
dyspepsia when it .is first developed, than
when it bas made headway by neglect, and
become complicated with other ailments.
There ie not the shadow of a doubt that the I
Bitters aro as directly antagonistic todyspep-'J
ala as water is to fire! Thero are thousands
of oases on reoord proving this faot Tho
remedy is safe and agreeable. All the liquors
of commerce prescribed as stimulants, leave
a sting behind. But the sting la taken ont of
the spirituous basis of tbiB great remedy by
vegetable medication; and, moreover, the
stimulant thus medicated ie of exceptional
purity. Of all tonlos taken as safeguards or
remedies for fever and ague, bilious remit?
tents, and other fall epidemics, it is the only
one that can uniformly bo depended upon.

THE CAUSE AND CUBS OF CON?
SUMPTION.-The primary canee of Con-]
snmption is derangement of tho digestive or?
gans. This derangement produces deficient 1
i nutrition and assimilation. By assimilation
I mean that proco BS by which the nutriment of
the food ia oonverted into blood, and thence
into the solids of the body, Persons with
digestion thus impaired, having the slight?
est pre-disposition to pulmonary disease,
or if they take oold, will no very li a bio to havo
Consumption of tho Lunga in some of its
forms; and I hold that it will ho impossible
to onreany case of Consumption without first
? restoring a good digestion and healthy assimi?
lation. The very first thing to be dono'is to
cleanse the stomach and bowels from all dis?
eased mucus and slime, which is clogging
i these organs so that they cannot perform
their functions, and then rona cup and restore
the liver to a healthy action. Bor this pnr
?OBO the surest and best remedy is 8 ch ei i o k's
[ and rako Pills. The BO Pilla olean tho ato-.
? mach and bowels of all tho Aad and morbid
j slim o that is causing disease and decay in the
whole system. They will clear out tho liver
of all diseased bile that has accumulated
there, and rouse it up to a now and healthy
action, by which natural and healthy.bile is
aeoreted. >
The stomach, bowels and liver arc thus 1
oleansed by the uso of Hckenck'e Mandrake
Pills; but thorn remains in the stomach an
oxcesa of acid, the organ is torpid and the
apetite poor. In tho bowels tho lactoals arc
I weak, and requiring strength and support. It
1 is in a condition liku this that f?chenck's Sea?
weed Tonio proves to bu the roost valuable
remedy ever discovered. It is alkaliue, and
ita use will neutralize all excess of acid, mak?
ing tho stomach sweet ani fresh; it will give
permanent tone to this important organ, H nd !
create a good, hearty appetite, nud nronorel
the sys tem for tho first process of a good di?
gestion, and ultimately make good, healthy,
I living blood. After this preparatory treat?
ment, what remains to euro most cases of :
i Consumption is tho free and persevering uso
I of Hohonck's Puluionio Syrup. Tho Pulmo nie
Syrup nourishes tho system, purifies the blood
aud is readily absorbed into tho circulation,
and thence distributed to tho diseased lungs.
There it ripens all morbid matters, whether
in tho form of abscesses or tubercles, and
then assists Nature to txpel al! the diseased
matter, in the form of treo expector?t inn,
when onco it ripens. It is then, by thc great
healing and purifying properties of Scbenck'e
Pulmonio Syrup, that ali ulcers aud cavities
aro healed up sound, and my patient is cured.
Tho essential thing to be dono in curing
Consumption is to get up a good appetite and |
a good digestion, so that tho body will grow
in flesh and get strong. If a person has dis?
eased lunge-a cavity or abscess there-the
cavity oanuot heal, tho matter cannot ripen,
so long as tho system is below par. What is
necessary to cure is a new order of things-a
good appetite, a good nutrition, tho body to
?row iu flesh and get fat: then Nature is I
elpod, the cavitiee will heal, the matter will I
ripon and be thrown off in largo quantities,
and the person regain health aud strength,
j This is tho true and only plan to cure Con?
sumption, and; if a person is verv bad, if tin
langs are not entirely destroyeJ, or oven il
, one lung ia entirely gone, if thero is enough
vitality left in the other to heal up, thero is
hope.
1 havo seen many porsout enrod with only
ono sound lung, live and enjoy life to a good
old age. This is what tichonck'a Medicines
will do to cure Consumption. They will clean
j out the stomach, sweeten and strengthen it,
get up a good digestion, and give nature tho I
assistance she needs tn clear the.system of all1
tho disease that is lu tho lunga, whatever the
form may bc.
It is important that whilo using Schenck'i
Medicines, caro should be exercised not t<
take cold; keep in-doors in cold and damp j
weather; avoid night air, und take oat-door i
exercise only iu a genial and warm sun-shine. ,
I wish it distinctly understood that when I ?
recommend a patient to bo careful in regard I
to taking cold, whilo using my medicines, I do
so for a special reason. A niau who has but
partially recovered from thu effects ol a bad
cold is far more liablo to a relapse than ono
who has boen entirely cured; and it is preciso- j
ly tho samo in regard to Consumption. S.>
j long SB the lungs are not perfectly healed.
I just so long is thero imminent danger of a full
return of tho disease. Heneo it is that I so
strenuously caution pulmonary patients j
against exposing themselves to un at mosphere I
that is not genial and pleasant. Coiitirmed
Consumptives' lungs are a mass of sores,
which tho least chango of atmosphere will in?
flamo. Tho grand secret of my success with
my medicines consists hi my ability to sn bil no
inflammation instead of provoking it, as many
of tho faculty do. An inflamed lung cannot,
with safety to the patient, bo exposed to tho
biting blasts of winter or thocldfling winds of I
spring or autumn. It should bo carofully j
shielded from all irritating influences. The
utmost caution should bo obsorved in this
I particular, as without it a cure, under almost
any circumstances, is an impossibility.
The person should bo kept on a wholesome
and nutritious dio t, and all the medicines con?
tinued until tho body has restored to it tho
natural quantity of flesh and strength.
I was myself" enred by this treatment of the
worst kind of Consumption, and have lived to
?-ot fat and hearty these many years, with one
ung mostly gone. I have cured thousands
since, 'and very many have been cored by this
treatment whom I have never seen. :
About tho 1st of October I expect to take
pbfBSoaaion of my new building, at tho North?
east corner of Sixth and Aron streets, where
I shall ba phrased to gtvo advice to all who
may require it.
Foll directions accompany all my remedies,
so that a person in any part of the world can
be reidilv cured' by r. strict observance of tho
