Gallant Georgia Raises Heb Yoick fob Oaboltna? An Emphatic) Endorse? ment OF the TaX-PaTBBS* memorial.? The following preamble and resolutions were introduced iu the Georgia Senate, by Mr. Gil more, and agreed to on Thursday last, and were concurred in ^bj the House on tho same day: Whoreas.Xtho tax-paying citizens of South Carolina,-ia^auuveuliou assem? bled, have addressed tho morality, tho justice and patriotism of tho people of the United States, in a memorial to Congress, by which it is made to appear that they are suffering from au organ? ized system of oppression, under the form of a local government, inaugurated amid the chaos of revolution by un? principled political adventurers, and sus? tained through tho co-operation of their unfortunate dupes, tho recently en? franchised negroes; and whereas, this appeal to the people comes to us, citi? zens of Georgia, who, through Provi? dence, have escaped tho tyranny of the oppression which these, our brethren of South Carolina, have so long endured; therefore, be it Resolved, by tho Senate and Honso of Representatives of Georgia, That the representations mado by the. memorial of the Tax-payers' Convention, recontly held iu Columbia, S. C, present a cata? logue of outrage and wrong scarcely having a parallel iu the annals of Ohiist ian civilization, and is an appeal to the patriotism and moral sense of tho peo? ple of tho United StatcP, demanding their gravest consideration. Resolved, Thut as tho genius of our Republioan form of government rests in ?courity only in the virtue and intelli? gence of tho oitlzeu, theso cannot be ig? nored without destroying the safe guards of liberty, and without corrupt? ing the form of government eutablished by our fathers. Resolved, That wo extend our sympa? thy to tho good people of South Caro? lina in the ordeal through which they have been oalled to pass; and while we cannot but admire tho spirit and for? bearance and fortitude with which they have endured theso outrages and suf? fered these wrongs, wo condemn the perpetrators thereof as being responsi? ble for the material ruiu of a gallant people and the overthrow of the Repub? lican government of a great State. Resolved, That our representatives iu the Congress of tho United States be re? quested to co-opsrate with the delegates from the ??Tax-Payers' Convention," of South Carolina, in securing such repre? sentation of their grievances, and re? medy therefor, as may be deemed expe? dient. Resolved, That his Excellency tho Go? vernor be requested to transmit those resolutions to tho President and mem? bers of the "Tax-Payers' Convention," of South Carolina. A Son of a Cadolinian in Parlia? ment.?At the recent eloctiou for Par? liament in Great Britain, Thomas Cordes, Esq., was returned by a hand? some majority from the uuited boroughs of Monmouth, Newport and Usk, as a Conservative. The parents of Mr. Cordes were both South Caroliuians. Why does a sculptor die the most horrible of doaths? Because ho makes faces and busts.
