The River Time.
A wonderful stream is the river Time,
As it Hows through the realm of tears,
With a faultless rhythm and a surge
sublime,
And blends with the ocean of years.
There's a musical isle up the river Time,
Where the softest of airs are playing;
There's a flowery soil and u balmy clime,
And the tunes with the roses are stray?
ing
And the name of that isle is the Long
ago,
And we bury our treasures there;-'
There are brows of beauty and bosoms of
snow,
There are heaps of dust, but we love
them so,
There are trinkets and tresses of hair.
There are broken vows, and pieces of
rings,
And part of an infant's prayer;
There's a lute unswept, a harp without
strings,
And the jewels she used to wear.
There are hands that are waved from
that fairy shore,
When the mirage is lifted in air,
And we sometimes hear midst the tur?
bulent roar
Sweet voices wo heard in days gone be?
fore,
When the wind down the river is fair.
Remembered fore'er be that blessed isle
All the day of our life, till night;
And when evening comes with her beau?
tiful smile,
And our eyes are closing in slumber
awhile,
May that Greenwood of soul be in
* sight.
"Arrah, me darlint," cried Jamie
O'Flaunigau to his loquacious sweet?
heart, who had not given him the oppor?
tunity to "get in a word even edgewise"
during a two hours'rido behind the little
bay nags in his oyster wagon, "are yo
afther knowing why your cheeks are like;
my ponies there? * "Shuro and its be?
cause they're red, is it?" quoth the blush?
ing Bridget. "Faith, and a belter raison
than that, niavourncen. Because there
is one of them aich side of a wagon
tongue."
