Our Assessor.
Among the first visits we have received
since our induction to our new office, was
that of the Assessor, inquiring the amount
of our taxables. Although Mr. Marvix
is admirably qualified for his post, and
was very polite in toe performance of
his duty, still, as a general thing, we
should prefer receiving turn-prof estional
visits from him, esjiecially when, as
nder the present law, we arc taxed not
only on what we have, but what we have
not.
