I will Issue a Weekly paper, to bo called" Tai Cam."
at the olty of volumoua, sma Btat. oi unio, at, iwo aoi
I art per annum, of fifty-two number, l ayable alway. in
ad vines, and to commence during th. month of January.
(1801.) As It will be desirable to both partlea to hare a
full aett commencing wltn number I, It will be Impor
tant for subscriber to lend their name as early a possi
ble, o that I can form soma estimate of the edition to
commence with.
I hare . great many reasons for publishing this paper,
aa will more clearly appear to my readers a it proares.
ea, and bene I shall offer neither excuse nor apology
for what, at Brst view, to mm, may ue considered a sin
aalar determination.
"1 he Crisis'' will fully and thoroughly alft the great
issue that hang Ilk a cloud f night over onr common
country, and if our nationality, as It is, cannot be pre
served wuoie anu onuiTiaeo, me sun greater quesinn
will arias, mora perplexing, aa It 1 mora gloomy, what
are to be the conditions of our dissolution and disgrace.
Theae are momentous questions, yet they are crowding
hard upon as, and we have got to look lliem in the face,
as undatable a, they may be.
I bare not much (aith in seeing these who have brought
thia fearful crista upon our country, show patriotism and
man lines enough to confess their errors, rectify their
mistakes, and restore the country to the safe and healthy
conauion in wnicn uiey rouna it, nut i snail never lose
confldenc. In the maaaof Itw ajgopl., nor distrust their
rigbt Intention until all hope I lt, and we a' e smit
ten down by the parlcidal hand . .
My connection of thirty year with politic and the
press, gave me some claim upon the people for at least
a canaia nearing.
If possible, let us save our country from the peril
that aurround it, and ourselves from the stigma of Inca
pacity and National wickedness. If It is too late, and
we are already whirling to the dark abyss of dissolution
and chaos, in th nam of humanity let as halt and not
lush headlong into civil commotions sueh aabave never
before reddened th. earth with a brother's blood.
But a Protpectu I no place to araue great ouestiona.
"Th. Caisia" will do that at length, and without glove.
I will apeak freely of men and measures, and call thing
by their rich! name. When a treat country and the
fat. of a mighty people are at stake, it is no time to re
treat to our closet to pick word of delicate meaning,
or to bnnt phrase to sit like music on the ear of love.
We are passing dangerous shoals in .frightful storm,
and it 1 unmanly to sit in mimio pantomime of a resig
nation in Providence. He who would not assist in sav
ing us from this impending wreck, would not defend his
wife and children from the fatal dagger raised to strike
before his eye.
' tb cbisis " will also be or a general character, and
as varied initaiubjectaasthenatureoflla main purpose
will admit. I shall .specially devote a number of arti
cles to the political and material interest of Kansas and
Minnesota, wr.ere inave mostli resided since the (print
of lt&7, and In both of which I have taken no Inactive
part.
To my friends in Ohio, I ones more appeal. I have
often don so, but never in vain. In thia terrible crisl
In onr affairs, will you not itand by m In thia last ap
peal which, In the nature of things, I can never make
again. Uod haa spared my life to witness thi. mouruful
and gloomy scene te witness the dlstroying angel pass

Scroftila, or King's Evil,
is a constitutional disease, a corruption of ths
blood, by which this fluid become, vitiated,
weak, and poor. Being; in the circulation. U
pervades the whole body, and may burst out
in disease on any part of it. No organ is tree
from its attacks, nor is there one which it may
not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously
caused by mercurial disease, low living, dis
ordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth
and fiyhy habits, the depressing rioes, and,
above all, by the venereal infection. What
ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the con

Its effoots commence by deposition from ths
blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in
the lungs, liver, and internal organ., it termed
tubercles ; in the glands, swellings ; and m

Htand the attacks of other diseases ; conse

.which, ulthough not scrofulous in their nature,
am still rendered fatal by thi. taint in the
h) stem. Most of the consumption which de
(imutcs the human family lias its origin directly
in this scrofulous contamination; and many
destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain,
and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or
are aggravated by the same cause.
One quarter of all our people arc scrofulous ;
their persons are invaded by this lurking in
fection, and their health is undermined by it.
To cleanse it from the system we must renovate
the blood by an alterative medicine, and in
vigorate it by healthy food and exercise,
Ruth a medicine we supply in
AYER'S
Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla,
the most effectual remedy which the medical
skill of our times csn devise for tltis every
where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com
bined from the most active remedials that have
been discovered for the expurgation of this foul
disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the
system from its destructive consequences.
Hence it should be employed for tlie cure of
not only Scrofula, but also those other affec
tions which arise from it, such as Eruptivb
and Skih Diseases, St. Anthony's Firk,
Rose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules,
Blotch es, Blaiks and Boils, Tumors, TErrfitt
and Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Rinoworm,
Khefmatiam, Syphilitic and MEncuittAL Dis
eases, Duopsr, Dyspepsia, Dehility, and,
indeed, all Complaints auisino from Vitia
ted eit Impiiie Blood, The popular belief
in " impurity of tlie Hood " is founded in truth, '
for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The
particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa
rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid,
without which sound health is impossible in
contaminated constitutions.

the best remedy ever yet discovered for this class
of complaints, out also the cheapest. The large
quantity we supply for a dollar brings it Within the
reach of every body ; and in bilious districts, where
Fever and Aoub prevails, every body should
have it and use it freely both for cure and nrotec-
lion. A great superiority of this remedy over any
other ever discovered for the speedy and certain
cure of Intermittent is that it contains no Quinine
or mineral, consequently it produces no quinism or
otner injurious enecrs wnatever upon the constitu
tion. Those cured by it are left as healthy as it'
they had never had the disease.
Fever and Ague is not alone the conseauence of
th. miasmatio poison. A neat variety of disor

tJnralqia, Rheumatirm, Gout, Headache, Blind
