Asi'KN, Colo., July fi.-As tho pres

the depressed state of trade and the
sliver Issuo, which latter It tho bread
of life to Colorado, are chief topics of
the day, I will divulge a few rigid
facts rogardlng the situation here.
The press contains many contradlC'
tory statements. Some have endeav
ored to conceal the true facts concern
ing tho effect of the recent decline In
tho price of sliver bullion.
Iu reply to an Inquiry from Wall
street regarding the feeling In Colorado
and the mining outlook, Hon. I.. It
Holden, of the llulden Smelting and
Milling company, of this place, says
"Inside ofjslxty days 160,000 men will

lluslness Is nlmost suspended In all
the silver mining camps. Iletuil

Inability to meet obligations. It lias
been estimated that orders for $1,000,

In tho streots of tho onto prosperous

Money seems very scarce, and all aro
very despondent over the situation.
Tho news of 1'resldent Cleveland's pro.

congress August 7th, was gladly ru
celu'd. An opinion Is prevalent that
the extra session, should it lepenl the
Sherman law, will subslltutu it by
either free coinage, or a compromise
which will satisfy the free silver nd1
heianla. On this alone they base their
hope for tho future welfare of the
Stato this measure lost, and all Is
lost, and the Ihouiaiids of miners who
who live from hand to mouth are to be
pitied, as the verge of starvation will
have been leached, the msjorlty of
miners being Incompetent for any
other opacity of labor.
The scene at tho time silver reached
tho lowest point was that of a panic.
Silver, fllver, silver wan heard on every
hand. There nro two poislhlo futures
