A Scenk at the Vatican.?There has
been in Rome, for some weeks past, aa Eng?
lishwoman of good family named Ali.-s
Loughlin. She is not crazy, but her mind
is feeble on some points. Unfortunately,
she obtained a ticket of admission to the
anniversary mass at the Sistine Chape!. She
was not in the chape! half an hour before
there was some trouble. Ladies are nil pro
vided with seats on a comfortable balcony
opposite, and similar to, the or,e provided
for the ambassadors, etc. Miss Loughlin
concluded she wanted a better seat, and,
selecting the most desirable chair, she made
her way through the crowd and demanded
it of the lady occupying it. She was mi
Eoglish princess?, sho said, and her ticket
called for that particular chair. Naturally,
the proper owner of'tho chair deciiuctl to
vacate, and, it must no confessed, a noisy
discussion followed. The discussion, to the
horror of all who witnessed i'., ended by
Miss Loughlin giving the lady a rir.giug slap
in the face. The guard.-? approached her, and
finally persuaded her to leuve the balcony.
The other lady had, of course, promptly
fainted. MUs Loughlin next showed a dis?
position to go up to the papal throne for a
seat, but agaiu tne Swiss Guards restrained
hergentiy. After a little while ehe again
became nci?-y, aud she was told either to be
quiet or to leave the chapei. She did nei?
ther, but became hysterical, whereupon two
ethiwart Swiss 'aid aside their balhi-rts and,
picking her up, carried her out of the chap?
