FEI?AY EVENING, AUGUST 5. Diamond Thief Captured.?Detectives arrested George Faith yesterday morning as be stepped off the Desbrot-ses street ferry? boat at Jersey City. Faith, who is a noted burglar, is wanted for a burglarv at Fair child & Go's, jewelry store, in Bridgeport, Ct., on July 17. The safe was broken open aud $15,000 worth of diamonds and jewelry stolen. He rotorned recently from a pro? fessional trip to Europe, which is said to have been very successful. He has already served three terms in different prisons. Faith was arraiaged before Judge Stilsing, and turned over to the Pinkerton detectives. Faith lived with hiB wife in the base? ment of a frame house in Jersey City. The premises were searched, and a startling ar? ray of burglar's tools were found, including jimmies, wedges, lock-picks, saws, sledgeB, braces, bits of all kinds, over 500 keys of various shapes, wax impressions of keys, and books containing cipher entries. Mrs. Faith had expensive diamond jewelry, which she claimed as her own, but they will be held to await identification by Faircbild & Co. In a rear woodshed the officers found about ten pounds of dynamite cartridges, and a lot of fuses and caps. Superintendent Banks, of the Pinkertons, fays it is tho finest assortment be ever saw. The collection will be taken to Bridgeport, to bo used as evidence in Faith's trial. Hand Organs.?A manufacturer of hand oigans doeB business on the top floor of a dingy old bouse on Park Row, near Chat? ham square. "The price of an orgaD," said be, "depends upon its size and the number of tunes it plays. It ranges all the way from $90 to $500. Italians? used to buy the most of them, but they .-eem now to be dropping out of the business and to have taken to the pickaxe and shovel. Lame and blind men are our best customers now? adays. We have quite a Dumber of out-of town orders from them. We are also ship? ping largely to the West Indies. Hand or? gans are very popular down there. In Ha? vana troops of young girls go about the streets and dance to their accompaniment. Very few hand organs are imported into this country. The duty would be too heavy for the average organ griuder. Tho Italians do not pay rent for their instruments. They buy them outright and pay solid cash. It costs something to put a new tune in an organ. We cannot substitute otm for an? other for less than $3. That i* the reason you are still regaled with 'Sweet Violets,' 'Grandfather's Clock,' ami all the other old timers."?N. Y. Sun. It Astonished she Public, to hear of the resignation of Dr. Pierce as u Congressman to devote himself solely to his labors as a physician. It was because his true constituents were the sick end afllcted everywhere. They will find Dr. Pierce's "Golden Medical Discovery" a beneficent use of his scientific knowledge in their be? half. Consumption, bronchitis, cough, heart disease, fever and ague, intermittent fever, dropsy, neuralgia, coitre or thick nock, aud all diseases of the blood, are cured by this world-renowned medicine. Its properties are wonderful, its action magical. By drug? gists. DIRECTORY ?or THE? Principal Bpeajops of k City Banks. Burke & Herbert, cor. King and Fairfax streut. .
