We lately had the pleasure of looking over one ot the finest farms in the state, owned by John Frank, pf Le Roy. We found Mr. Frank at home, and were shown about his stables, and viewed some of the fine stock that he is noted for keeping. Among the animals our particular attention was called to a fine full-blood imported English Shi^e stal lion. He is a large animal, weighing 2, 000 pounds, with a good stout limb on him, and a well-built animal. A' three quarter-blood Norman stallion, and a full-blood tiambletoniap stallion, a fine rangy animal, stylish, and just such an animal as we should like for a carriage horse. His "horned" cattle are the Polled Angus breed, and have no horns. It looks odd to see a large drove of cat tie and ifot a horn in the whole herd. At the head of his herd is a full-blood lm ported Polled Angus bull, and one full blood raised on the farm. He ia winter ing about 100 head of cattle, and has sold about 75 head this fall, He has ten ement houses for his hired men, and everything about the farm is arranged for comfort and convenience. Mr. Frank Is a pleasant, whole-souled man, and we shall visit his farm again when we have a be or it to ok it -Dr. N. D. Satterlee is anew addition to the medical profession of Austin. Pr. Satterlee was formerly from LaCrosse, has been located at Weils and Maokato, Of. late he has been traveling for his health, which is so much improved that he has decided-to settle.down to bqsiness again« choosing Austin as h)l field of la bor. VSST-T —We publish this week a list of the building iinpro.vements in Au&tin for the year 1887t/ Jn looking over this list you will discover th^t many fine residences have been built this summer. Among this number is the residence of G. V, Adams, which we had the pleasure -of looking over. It is a model house for ar rangement -and convenience, ~and was built afterplans drawn by Mr. Adams himself. On the first floor is a fine hall at entrance, parlor, sitting «oom, and targe bedroom, all connected by folding doors, dining-room^ kitchen and pantry. On the second floor are four large sleep ing- rooms/ with closet to each—not the ordinary 2*4 closet, but large and roomy. Over the kitqhen is a large and commodi ous store-room. It is a fine residence, and Mr. Adams may juBtly feel proud of it.' F. O. Hall and S. C. Oleson have also built e^tra fine residences. But to call attentidn to all the fine residences, we should be compelled to issue a Pio neer Press edition, which we shall not attempt to do.. An Ola 8ettler Gone.
