About five o'clock p. in. the train ar rives from Ln Verne with a crowd of passengers, at 8:30 the Accommodation arrives from the east with a load of land hunters, and at midnight comes the Express from which 100 to 125 per sons generally dismount and rush for the hotels. Hang out your banners on the outer wall, tlie cry is, "still they come!" Put on your banners "This way for good hash," '-Right up here for abed on the floor," "Standing room at tho Third Avenue," "One more hook left at the Worthington to hang your hat on," "Six in abed and one chair left at the McManns," "Room for one more lodger in the hay loft." We have been down in the vicinity of Tenth Street and Second Avenue for several evenings when the Accommoda tion arrived. As the crowd of hind seekers pouring up from the depot reaches Second Avenue we hear cries like these: "This way for tlie McMan ns House," "Right this way for the Third Avenue." "Second Avenue House this way." "Second Avenue Restaurant, loc for a lunch," and then some funny man puts in: "Hot hash and gravy on your taters." L.lXl) SALES. Messrs. J. 11. Marston, W. II. Feath erstone and D. II. Towle, all gentle men of means, from Red Wing, Minn., have arrived and purchased a consid erable amount of land in Nobles coun ty. Messrs. Marston and Featherston purchased, in January last, section 33, in Elk, and 280 acres, the balance on sec. 15, in Worthington. In February, Mr. Marston purchased 400 acres on sec. 9, Worthington, and he has now secured for himself and friends in Maine, all of sec. 7, SO acres on sec. 0, and 240 acres on sec. 17, in Worthing ton also 400 acres on sec. 23, the north half of sec. 27, and lhe northwest quar ter of sec. 31, in Elk, in all l.s-10 acres. Mr. Marston owns four farms in Goodhue county which he thinks can't he beaten, but for new land, he jn'ifcrs Nubk's county lo any other section lie has seen, in his travels over 25 SLtlis of the Unv)n. Mr. Featherston will probably make further purchases. Mr. Towle hits purchased all of sec. 20, in Elk. lie litis prospected in Ste vens and other counties of the State, but he has found nothing that fills his eye so well its Nobles county. Mr. Towle will break and cultivate this sec tion. Messrs. Marston and Featherstone have contracted to have 100 acres brok en and will seed a quantity which was broken when they purchased. II. E. Perkins, also of Red Wing, purchased in January last, all of sec. 3, in Worthington, and will arrive in a few days to make further purchases. The above parties hope to have about 500 acres broken this season. Andrew Sundberg has sold his farm on section 'jo, to Mrs. Thompson. Miner & Parsons have sold the nwi of 25, in Elk, to Chamberlain Brothers, for $1,120. Also the sei of sec. 1, in this township, to W. A. Howard, for $1,245. Also the east half of the ser of sec. 10, in Lorain, to Mr. Sliipway, for $720. Als.) the farm of Dr. Craft, in Lorain, to Mr. Runyon. ARRIVALS. R. M. Porter and M. J. Fish, from Iowa, have arrived and are looking for land. They expect to locate about Gra ham Lakes. J. D. Brown, of Stillwater, has arriv ed and is looking for land. I. N. Baker, of Monroe county. Wis., has arrived and hied on a claim in the noithwest town of the county. W. It. Martino, a pt inter from the Job Department of the Minneapolis Tribune, has arrived and is looking for land in this vicinity. We tender him the freedom of the prairies and of the ADVANTR oilice. S. F. Miner, brother to Capt. Miner, has arrived from Fillmore county, with a yiew to making improvements on his farm. Messrs. Murphy, brothers, one of whom comes from Trenton, N. J. and the other from Philadelphia, are here looking for a location. E. Groff, of Washington county, has arrived and purchased lumber of Fos ter & Shepard, for a house on his claim in the northwest town of the county. Dr. Heisland has arrived from Kil bourn City, Wis., and gone to his farm near Adrian. The Doctor reports a number of persons from that part of Wisconsin as expecting to come to this cpunty. The following parties have arrived and have been located by Crandall & Hoyt: E. Brown, Stillwater J. Baker, Wisconsin John Keena, Rochester Wm. Conner, Kalamazoo,' Michigan E. Chase, Eau Claire, Wis. Charles W. Whitney, a commercial traveller for the Grocery House of Beaupro & Co., St. Paul, died on Thursday last at the Worthington Ho tel, of inflammation of the bowels. II is remains were sent to St. Paul on Thursday night, and thence to his for mer home at Manlius, N. Y. Mr. Whitney was a member of the Knights of Pythias and of the State association of commercial travellers, and was the first member of the latter association who has died. In this connection, the friends of Dr. Craft will be pleased to read the following dispatch from Messrs. Beau pre & Co. After Dr. Hart returned to Sioux City the friends of Mr. Whitney dispatched to St. Paul for a physician and the following dispatch was receiv in reply: Dr. Hand says he knows Dr. Craft to be very reliable physician. It is to be 24x70 and two stories high. Daring the rain yesterday, the wind whipped round to the north and for a while got up an imitation blizzard. No use. Can't raise the wind this year. Can't fool us with any paste, pinch beck, pewter storms. Mr. J. Ames, of Worthington, is in town and has an eye on those fine loca tions about town with a view of in vesting.—Jackson Republic. Mr. Chute, of Summit Lake, seems to lead oft in the way of stock. He is gathering around him a fine lot of cat tle, hogs, fowls, and claims tlie largest cultivated tree in the county. J. J. Johnson, of the town north of Adrian, is sowing this year anew oats called the Norway Oats. It has been tried in Iowa and yields readily 75 bushels to the acre.
