If the other candidates would exercise the same fore thought Mr. Hammond has they to would decline rainbow chasing, but what more can be expected of those who advocate such exploded ideas. It is getting so that free silverists are forced to resort to any and all sorts of ex cuses in a last straw endeavor to bolster up their lost cause. Here is a little information for not only the Populist paper but the gentlemen who are k'ndly ask ing at the baek door for work: Th Folley Bros., of St. Paul, are advertising for two thousand common laborers, offering two dollars a day, free railroad fare, work guaranteed for one year and board five dollars, and at this time are unable to go ahead with con tracts already taken. Now we read this in last week's daily pa per as an advertisement and the Folley Bros, are well known as capitalists and hustling and relia ble men.—Jackson Republic. As soon as Gov. Clough was of ficially notified of the condition of the Minnesota boys, he at onee ar ranged for sending a special train to the south to transport the sick ones home. He is quoted as hav ing instructed the colonels of the regiments to inform him of any wants that might exist in the camps, but his instructions were not considered of any consequence or they would have teen recognis ed, therefore some of our Minneso ta army officers are deserving of censure as the governor would un doubtedly relieved the distress that existed among the Minnesota troops, all that was possible with" in his authority had he been pro perly notified. In 1892 Mr. Osborne told us that Free Trade in Wool womld mean belter prices. Ceffeen sec. ondedthe motion and voted for then Wilso bill. The result was 5 cent wool. In 1894 Johnny Os borne told us that it was not Free Trade which caused the decline in wool. It was something else, which did not seem exactly clear to him, probably the failure of the Baring Bros. The people thought differently and and voted for William McKinley and a Pro tection Congress. In spits of the opposition of Osborne the Ping ley bill was passed and wool raised to fourteen cents.
