New York, Nov. 25.?The Industrials
were more prominent In the dealings at
the Stock Exchange than for some time
past and these slocks figured for 140.1)00
shares In u grand total of 203.80G
shares. The activity, however, was at
the expense of .values and declines
ranging from % to 3 per cent, were re?
corded in these Issues. Bear manipu?
lation and liquidations, uccompanled
by rumors, .vere the factors at work.
In the case of sugar the story was that
Congress will take, up the question of
differential duty soon after convening.
The stock fell from 09% to 97% on deal?
ings of 63,200 shares. Tobacco broke
3 points to 80V4. on reports from .the
West that Its competitors were cutting
Into the revenue of the company. About
38.000 shares of the stock were traded
in. Chicago gas on the delay in giving
out the proposed plan of reorganlatlon
fell to Cl%. 16,800 shares changing
hdhdit. The companies are In the
Spltt-Barrow Injunction case. Hied to?
day. Leather preferred on sales Tor
the long and short account, declined
to 64%. the lowest point reached since
the present bear movement was inau?
gurated. ?Distiller's sold down 1 to
lSVs, and common %, to lOVfe.
The railway list cut loose from
the Industrials and was ttrm and
strong throughout.
Favorable Influences were the ab?
sence of gold engagements, although
shipments are looked for Wednesday,
better railway earnings und u belief
that the fortnightly settlement in Lon?
don will go through without important
failures. Prices Improved anywhere
from % to 1% per cent. The Grangers
Northern Pacific preferred. Manhat?
tan. Loulsvile and Nashville, and .the
SouthAvesterns were most prominent
In the rise. In the final dealings money
on call worked a title close and transac?
tions wore effected at 3 per cent., but
this had no Influence.

Chicago^ Nov. 26L?Elevator people
were unanimous in their desire to buy
December wheat to-day, hut found of?
ferings 04" that delivery a. triffle scant.
Under this circumstances an udvunce
was not unreasonable, the May sympa?
thizing with the nearer delivery. When
prices cV later options reached the
"calls" there was rather peremptory
liuying for the account of prominent
"shorts," with further appreciation re?
uniting. The strength was not conspi?
cuous during the morning, although n
fairly Arm tune was noted. Higher Liv?
erpool cables caused a slight advance at
the opening, the gain being well sus?
tained until the later Improvement
took place, notwithstanding heavy re?
ceipts in the Northwest.
The corn market derived benefit from
the strength of wheat, sulficlent to
make a slight fractional gain over Sat?
urday. It was not that any particular
inducement was held out to buyers, but
rather that bulls expected to receive
some advantage, should wheat have a
decided boom. May corn opened at
29V4: sold at 2914, where It dosed.
The old complaint of dullness and in?
activity was heard In the oats market.
With wheat and corn higher, oats nat?
urally made a corresponding advance,
but there was no life to the trade.
Provisions.?Offering or product show
fed some action to-day. Closing prices
Were 12'i cents higher than Saturday for
May pork. 5 cents higher for May lard
