the Union, no part of which will injuriously
affect the interest of the l'ort Wayne,
(irand Rapids and Mu.iVcgon road, as it
will not at any point be within eighty miles
of that road. It crosses in It. course the
Southern Michigan, Central Michigan, and

tion of this road is of great importance, as
these State will be able to obtain lumber at
any season of th year, at much cheaper
rate, than it can now be offered by the way
of Lake Huron, Detroit Jtiver, Toledo and
th Canal. The pine trees to make lumber
are already grown and are a sure crop.
All that is wanting to bring thi. product of
a soil, not effective by tho seasons, is to have
good railroads, and we are rejoiced to On t
this will shortly be accomplished by the aid
uf our lellow citixen, D. lieckel, Esq. The
pine lands donated to complete the purt un
dertaken by Mr. II. amount to about five
hundred thousand norea, no part of which is
worth leu than five dollars per acre, und ev.

twenty thousand feet of lumber. ' When

whiuh it passe, will rise very rapidly in value
