the following counter passage fivin Thomas Mtx.rc's
''Lull Rookli" is most appropriate:
Oh, for a tongue to cur' the slue.

And blasts them in their hour, f might:

Military Strength of the North
and South.
By the returns made and published in
the army register of 1C59, it appeared
that the total number of all the enrolled
militia in the several States was 2,727,
486, of which number 1,629,000 are en
rolled in the free States, and 1,068,000
in a,U the slave States. The namber en
rolled in the seven seceded S.ates was
350,000. Wejiave 19,000,0:10 of inhabi
tants in the free State?. The seceding
States have about 2,700,000 whites, and
2,350,000 slaves. The slaves Statts
combined have a little m re than eiodit j
thousand whites and about four mihknj
slaves, the latter being n element of
weakness. The 6eceding Stales have no
navy and can have none. They are rot
a maritime people and can neither build
nor sail ships.

Debasing the Coin.
It is now ascertained upon the most .
undoubted authority, that large quanti
ties of silver coin, bearing the similitude i
of the coinage of the Uni:ed States, are
being daily struck off, and put into circu

by the press m regard to his spurious

being raised up by the rebels of Memphis,

Ayer'sSarsaparilla
A compound remedy, designed to bo the most
effectual AUeratire tlint etui be nuule. It is
a concentrated extract of Para Snrsnjmrilla,
so combined with other substances of still
greater nlteiative jiowcr ns to iiH'ortl on cfTec
tive antidote for the diseases Snrsnparilla ia
reputed t cure. It is Inlicved that such a
remedy is wanted by those who atiffer from
Strtimoiis cntnpliiints, nnd that ono which will
accomplish their cure must prove of immcnto
service to this largo class of our alllicted fellow,
citizens. How completely this compound will
do it lias been proven by exjicriniciit on many
of the worst cases to bc'found of tlio following
complaints :
Scitott t.v ani Scnopri.ors Comi-laints,
Euvrnoss and Eiuttivk Dismashs, I't.cr.us,

ou Sr. Anthony's Fiue, ntul indeed the vvliolo
clasi of couiplaints ari ing from Ivii'fitiTY of
the Ill.OOH.
This compound will Iw found a great pro
moter of health, when taken in the spring, to
expel the foul humors which fe.b-r iti tho
blood at that season of the year. ly the time
ly expulsion of them muiiy rankling disorders
mo nipped iu tho bud. 'Multitude can, by
thu nul of this remedy, spare themselves from
thi endurance of ft ml eruptions and ulcerous
sore, through which tho system will strive to
rid itself of corruptions, if not assisted to do
this through tho natural channels of the body
by nu nlterativc medicine. Cleanse out tli
vitiated blood whenever you find its impurities
bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions,
or sores j cleanse it when you find it is ob
structed and sluggish in the veins; cloansa it
whenever it is foul, and your feelings will tell
yu when. Even where no particular disorder
is felt, people enjoy better health, and lire
longer, for demising the blood.- . Jvicp tho
blood healthy, and all is well ; but w ith this
pabulum of life disordered, thero can be no
lasting health. Sooner or Inter something
must go wrong, nnd the great niauhiiiery of
life is disordered or overthrown.
Sursaparilla has, aud deserves much, tho
reputation of accomplishing these ends. But
the world has been cgregiously deceived by
preparations of it, partly because the drug
nlono has not all tho virtue that is claimed
for it, but more because many preparations,
pretending tc be concentrated extracts of it,
contain but little of the virtue of Sarsnparilla,
or any thing else.
During late years the public, have been mls
led by large bottles, pretending to give a quart
of Extract of Sartapnrilla for one dollar. Most
of these have been frauds upon tho sick, for
they not only contain little, if any, Sarsapa
rilla, but often no curative properties whatev
er. Hence, bitter and painful disappointment
has followed the use of the various extracts of
Sarsanarilla which flood the market, until thu
name itself is justly despised, und has bcoomc
synonymous with imposition and chcut. Still
we call this compound Aarsaparilla, and intend
to supply such a remedy as shull rescue the
namo from the load of obloquy which rests
upon it. And wo think we have ground for
behoving it 1ms virtues which are irresistible
by the ordinary run of the diseases it is intend
ed to cure. In order to secure their complete
eradication from the system, the remedy should
be judiciously taken according to directions on
the bottle.
