Hereafter she will assist Mrs. Champion in the millinery business. Mr. A. F. Mills, of Bay Mills, of Chip pewa County, came down from the "Soo" this week to have some mill machinery repaired and reported everything lively out in that country. Friday night of last week James Mc Cann, employed in the Duncan City, mills, got caught between a slab car and post and had his thigh dislocated Drs Gerow and Perrin placed him under the influence of chloroform and put it in place again. Tuesday evening a young lad named Duff any, employed at the Cheboygan Lumber company mill taking the laths from the lath gang, while attempting to remove some bark from under the saws got his right hand badly mutilated. The saws caught in his coat sleevo and drew his hand into the gang of five saws, cutting the fingers into fragments. Dr. Perrin was called and found it necessary to amputate the greater portion of the hand. He and Dr. Gerow preformed the operation, taking off about one half of the main portion of the hand, saving the thumb and upper part. , ;' . .. Y., some weeks ago attempted to take a pair of shears from her chM, with which it was playing. A slight struggle ensued, in whicli the point of the shears entered Mrs. Warner's left eye, en tirely destroying the sizlik Her familv nhvsi- cian did what he could, but intensely painful inflamation arose, which, by sympathy, threat ened the loss of the other eye. Total blindness to a woman having the care of a household is an irretrievable calamity. In this strait Mrs. w. applied to the well known and skillful sur geon, Dr. David Kennedy, of Rondout, N. Y., who removed the injured eye by a very success ful operation, setting aside all danger from further harm to the sight of the other eye.
