THE NORTHERN TRIBUNE, DECEMBER !), 1882. Northern Tribune. Euterert at the Postoffloe at Cheboygwn Alien., asSeconrt Class Matter. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9. 1882. ITJurJiiu Mat trim. Tho Van Raalte is the latest boat out of the season in this region. She has been kept busy carrying supplies up the north shore, seventeen carloads coming in by rail in one lot. The Leviathan left for Milwaukee Tuesday morning. Capt. Kirtland In tended stopping at the Manitous to ex amine the condition of the schooner Moutauk.and if there was, in his opinion, any chance of getting her off, he would m ike the endeavor. The St. Paul arrived Sunday morn ing and remained in port until Tues day morning. The owners expected to purchase a part of a cargo of lumber here but none was available and she remained in port on account of the bad weather. She left for Alpena Tuesday where they would endeavor to get lum ber, and then proceed to Huron, 0., to winter. We understand during the winter her boilers and engine will be shifted twelve feet furthur aft. This will give her greater carrying capacity and will enable her to varry several thous and bushels more grain. Capt. Conlon savs she is not likely to run upon the Collingwood route another season. Msiso:i- lellentlon. The Masonic brethren have decided to dedicate their new and elegant hall on New Year's night, three weeks from next Monday night. Arthur M. Clark, of Lexington, Mich., Grand Visitor and Lecturer, has promised to be present, and deliver an address and dedicate the hall. Arrangements are being perfected for a grand banquet and ball, and a good time socially. It is a well known fact that when the members of this order undertake anything they always make it a errand success and from what we have been able to learn, this occasion, both in interest and enjoyment.promises to surpass any of their former efforts.
