jf A full attendance of the members of XiZ' -f J Ottawa Lodge, No. 40, 1. O. 0 F, i requested this evening (Wednesday), t the Lodge Room, as Important business is pending, By order of the N. G. 1MKD, In Grand Haven, on the 13th Inst, Asa A. Scott, Sheriff of Ottawa couuty, aged 31 years. Mr. Scott had been twice elected to the highest Executive office In his county, and was one of Its most peaceable and virtuous citizens ; ho probably cave as little offence and was the subject of as few (ir any; disparaging reraams us his position in society. He was not only a good citizen, but was also a steadfast and consistent christian ; for about 12 years previous to his death, ho was an acceptable and exemplary member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, most of the time occupying official stations and was a Steward at the time of his death. As a husband and father, he was mild, affectionato and attentive to every want, during long continued seasons of domestic affliction his patience failed not, his vigilance ceas ed not ; in his domestic relations those who knew him best esteemed him most. Ills death was as might have been expected from his life, resigned, peaceful, triumphant. Though for a man of 3 1 to lie down to die, leaving a wife in delicate health aud 4 children without a guide and with but inad equate support, and an extensive connection with public business, to be settled by those who could not have a perfect knowledge of thoso matters ; even a consciousness of having walked in his integ rity would not entirely dissipate feeling of solici tude and apparent uneasiness which he exhibited during the first part of his sickness, but as he drew near his end grace triumphed over nature and he became entirely resigned to the Will of God. The last scene with his family, his affectionate leave of his wife, his dying counsels to her and his children, and his pious invocations of the blessings of heav en upon them and all present, was said by an eye witness to be " the most solemn and affecting that he ever beheld, and enough to melt the hardest heart," " Let me die the death of the Righteous, and let my last end be like his." His funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Wm. C. Comfort, from Rev. xiv, 13, " Messed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea saith the Spirit thcy.ycst from their labors and their works do follow them." Grand Haven, Dec. SGth 18-53. f Com. Jtli-rtlcnl Klectiidty. Radway's Ready Relief imparts an electrical in fluence through the system. Its first indication is to stop pain this it docs instantly.
