charge of Bigamy. Hv was prosecuted
by Messrs. H. H. Riddleberger anil
Lemuel Bordt-u aud defended byMeasre.

Messrs. Borden uud Newman delivered
their maiden speeches in this ease. Mr.
Borden was quite earnest in presenting
to tin-jury th?' gravity of the offence
and urging upon '.hem the importance
? puuishing crimes of this nature. The
defence having no witnesses, Mr.
Newman's argument was principally
directed towards the weak points in tlie
ease as made up by the prosecution.
Th jury found the prisoner guilty and
