FARM AND FIRESIDE
Caster Care.
Four years aio. I learned a remedy
for cancer, winch I haw never known
to fall in effectin- ? cure. It came to
my knowledge in this manner, A lady,
at whose house I was stoppiu?, had a
lister whose face was terribly disfigured,
the nose being almost entirely jone.
and the throat s0 ?Mh eate" awav "'V
the girl could not spiak in away intelli?
gible many hut ihose accustomed to her.
Tiie >ores wti-e all healed, and had
he? n for years, awl there was now no
appearance of eruptions or any Othei
Imparities uf the blood. Shu was sir
disti-jund that it would almost havi
sei med a mercy not to have saved her
?le, lut she was an example of what
the medicine could effect While 1
was at tlii*? lady's house, I meta gentle?
man ?'ho. I happened to know, hud
leen afllicietl with a cancer, which had
cuu-ed i'.m bittt'li anxiety. He had
recently spt nt some time in New York
under the treatment of a celebrated
cancer doctor, but without obtaining
relief. I Informed the lady of these
favts, and .she gave him this receipt'.
This was U>ur yean a^o. I saw the
gentleman a few months since and m
quired about hi.-camo. The reply was, i
'Uh.it gives me no trouble ; it I have j
r-.ny fear ab ut it, I take a little of Mrs. j
S.'s medicine, and it is all right.'
I have au auut between oO and CO ?
years old, who ha* had an internal ?
cancerous tumor, causing her much j
suffering, and rendering her for much of i
the time, uuablc to work. She has been
treated by many eminent physicians, ;
and has spent hundreds of dollars, but |
all to little purpo-c. For the last few
months she has been taking this medi?
cine, and says she has not been 60
well for years.
1 mi-aiht mention oilier cases, but per.
baps these will be suflicient. I have
???ver known it t? fail in a single in?
staure to cure impurities of the blood. ;
whether cancer?os or otherwise. I wish
I could inspiie in others the same cou
tidence which I feel, for 1 am certain it
would mit?gale a vast amount of tu lier

There is. perhaps, no plant better
suited for prolonged flowering dunuj
the ??inter months than the geranium,
ifhandled in the iolhxving mauuer:
Procure young plants of the varieties
you wish, about the middle of May.
l'ut them iu four-inch pots, tins oeiiu
the best to keep them in for the next
four months. Use well-decayed sod.
adding about one-third cow manure.
Mix thoroughly together, but do not
make too fine, as the geranium delight-;
in rather a rough compost. Place
about four inches of asliea under the
pots. This will have the effect ol
keeping worms and other lusects out ot
the pots. Keep them on the diy side,
as you do not want to encourage growth.
Should any flowers appear pinch them
off. also the leading shoots to keep them
in shape. Toward the end of Septem?
ber repot them in six-inch pots, that
is six inches in diameter, in the com?
post recommended above. They will
no?r commence to gro?v freely. About
the tenth of October put them in their
winter quarters, selecting the window
where they will get the most sun and
light. Plants treated in this manner
will flower the whale winter.
Few men who handle horsei give
proper altontiou to the feet and legs.
.Especially is this case on farms. Mud
time is spent ofa morniug in nibbln,",
brushing and smoothing the hair on tin
sides and hips; but at no time are feet
properly examined and cared for. Now.
be it known that the feet of the norse
require more care than the body. They
need ten times as touch, fer in one re?
spect they are the entire horse. All
groomirg that can be dose won't avail

case the feet will become disordered.
