We were unable to be present and are unable to give a more extended notice. The Union Cotton Factory. It has been suggested to us that the article in our local column of last week touching the above named improve ment may j -educe a wrong impression as to the action of the Mess. Deary. The Lind lying opposite the siteoflered by the Mess Ilarklerode belongs really to Mrs. M. E. Churchwell, instead of "he Mess. Deary, and it was not her purpo.e to obstruci the progress of ne gotiations as to the procurement of the Factory, but it was by her claimed that a portion of the bet elite arising through the sale of the site and privilege should enure to her advantage. The Bite now beig used by the Mess. Prath er could not have been complete with out the cooperation of Mrs, Churchwell and she haa freely given the right to erect the dam upon her premises. We think this action is very generous and public spirited and the citizens of Union have reason to feel grateful to Mrs. Churchwell for it, as she is the only individual who has, without any direct renumerraton aided in famish hing the site or privilege. The patriarchs took no mercury, no bis muth, no iodine, no bromide of potassium, no strychorta, no quiuine Happy old gentlit men! they did not even know of the exist ence of these "specifics," and yet they lived until it scorned as if Death had forcotten them. Their medicines were herbs and roots. They Lave left this fact oa record and the world seems to be now taking note of it and returning to the first principles of medication. Hoetetter's Stomach Bitters, the purest and mist etP.cacious vegetable restorative of the day, is also the most popular. Thousands of persons who ony a fow years npo believed implicitly in all the poisons which fieure in the;pharuiaco?pia, now pronounce this pal- aiauie tome aim auecnative an all-etimcient remedy for dyspepsia, nervous debility, con stipation, bilious complaints, headache, in termi.teut fevers, and all the ordinary dis turbances of the stomach, the liver, the die charging organs and the brain. The time is not lar distant when most of the powerful and venomous drujrs now to recklcasly adminis tered by practitioners of the"kcroic" school, inclaeesthat might ewile be controlled by milder treatment, will be utterly discarded by all philosophical physicians. As it is, the thinking public, who are generally ahead of the professionals, hnve already put the dan gerous preparation aside and "adopted Ho6 trtter'B Bitters in their stead as a 8fe and excellent household medicine, adapted to almost every idiment except the organic and deadly contagious diseases. For more than twenty yean this famous restorative and pre ventive has been annually (strengthening its hold upon the public confidence, and it now takes the lead of every advertised medicine manufactured in this country. A Great Horror With. Done AAVay House cleaning is a' great horror to nine men out of every ten. Wheu that time comes the "men folk?," aS a rule, eive the dofnea. tic hearth a "wide berth." Oceans of suds the prod ict of tons of soap fairly flood ev ery part of the house. The women, from the mistress down, labor as they never worked before, and what with the discom fort, the smell of suds and the dampness, and not uafrequently sickness, the projuct of colds and overwork, mutters are generally disagreeable. The simple use of Bapolio in stead of soap does away with all this discom fort. It lightens the labor a hundred per uecnuoe it removes aire, grease, stains and spot;, with hardly auy-labor, with but little water, and ia one tenth the usual time. " June 10 ly CI AI)VEKTISEME.
